Can you believe I found this book at a Goodwill store this week as I was away visiting family? It’s like I was meant to read it. I just started it, but already it looks to be classic trash. Perfect for this group!
I just want to make sure I understand what a "half uncle" is. As an example: if my father's brother had a different mother than my father did, then that brother would be my "half uncle". Is this correct? (I don't want to spoil the story by saying any more.)What a crazy family this is!
Thanks! I had never heard of a "half-uncle" before reading this book. I'm sure I'll learn more about interesting family relationships before I've finished it.
I'm about 38% in the book, and I'm starting to not like the mother (Corinne). I can understand that at first she thought she could change her parents' minds about her children. However, now that things look hopeless on that front, she doesn't seem to be actively looking for a way to get the children out of there. Couldn't she even find another family where the children could stay? Surely her mother would even pay some stranger to do that. (The grandmother would love to get them out of her house, I'm sure.) And Corinne doesn't seem too into her secretarial school. She's more into socialising, or so it seems. Things don't look good for the kids.
Golly-gee, what a trash fire this book is! I have 84 pages left, and at this point I am “hate-reading” it just to be finished with it. I don’t think there’s a single character I like in it. However, I was curious to read such a popular book. I don’t think I’ll be reading another book in this series.
It’s interesting to read this book now that I’m an adult and a parent. I mean, you’re going to leave those little kids alone with twin toddlers for months on end? I wouldn’t even leave myself alone in charge of twin toddlers for months on end. Also, this book would be a lot different post iPad. Those kids could have survived decades if they had Minecraft and Roblox.
About 1/4 through. I haven't read this book in forever. I think I've read all or most of the books in this series. So trashy. All the moms are so bad.
So now there are 1,000,000 books in this series? I read like 3 or 4. I appreciate that Andrews keeps writing from the grave, but I imagine the quality has probably started slipping.

This book came out when I was in my twenties, so I really wasn't the intended audience for it.
