i mean honestly
(please dont take this personally)

the only people who like this book are ignorant white people (except for you guys, i understand you may not be aware of the racial and cultural offensiveness of this book)

its filled with white girl problems, and rich people problems
i dont wanna hear about any of that

gat and ed were the only non rich, non white people in the whole ass book and their last names were PATIL
THIS AUTHOR IS SO INSENSITIVE AND UNCULTURED IOAHHHIOHOEUHSHOIH
babe you couldn't have been more creative and not pick the most white-dominated-af poc last name on earth?
you couldn't??

a lot of people said they cried, and im willing to bet most of those were rich white people because to cry for a book, you need to relate to the characters and there's no way in hell im relating to some stupid millionaire white arsonist family (seriously why does ANYONE relate to that)

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

I guess I agree! Like not all Indians are dark and even if we are so what? We love our culture! They should not have judged somebody on their looks!

Joan wrote: "I guess I agree! Like not all Indians are dark and even if we are so what? We love our culture! They should not have judged somebody on their looks!"

well yeah, but i also meant the author chose the most common indian lastname she could think of (keep in mind, the only indian harry potter character had the exact same last name; maybe it's a trend for stupid white people to pick that because they can't bother themselves to actually educate themselves about indian names at all :/)

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah! Like every author who uses an Indian as a character, the surname and name is always so common.

Sooo Swara if the author doesn’t want me to leave a ✨nice✨ review of it, I shouldn’t reading because I am going to call her out for that

i mean yeah
it's truly a unique novel but it's too problematic for me to praise it for that
