Matthew Pridham | 6 comments Who doesn’t love a good chilly winter horror tale? These 10 novels feature freezing temperatures, blizzards, and the dying light, plus monsters, ghosts, psychopaths, elder gods, and temporal anomalies. Which seasonal horror novels would you have included?

Christopher Golden's Road of Bones by Christopher Golden comes out on the 25th of this month. I'm sure it will be on lists like this in the future.

Sugar | 21 comments Oooo, I love a good winter horror!
I would have added Krampus: The Yule Lord
I read that book a few years ago, and was OBSESSED with it

I love that book!

Chandler | 280 comments I'm currently reading Snow. I'm only 60 pages in and it's so good! I'm becoming obsessed with Malfi since Come With Me.

Michelle | 307 comments Great list!! Winter horror is my favorite subgenre. I would add:
Near the Bone by Christina Henry
The Shuddering by Ania Ahlborn
Bone White by Ronald Malfi

James Seger (jseger9000) | 34 comments No mention of The Shining?

John W. Campbell has the novella Who Goes There?, the basis for The Thing. It was published in expanded form as the novel Frozen Hell.

Koontz has Icebound about some people on an iceberg.

A Winter Haunting by Dan Simmons.

There's the novelization of 30 Days of Night and the original graphic novel. Vampires attack the town of Barrow Alaska, which goes through an extended period with no sunrise every winter.

Hograhr | 4 comments The Bone Factory by Nate Kenyon would def be a good addition. Also, thanks for the list. Got a few more books to add to the pile. :)

Luvtoread (Trying to catch up) | 1944 comments I think "Ghost Story" by Peter Straub might also be a good one to include for a dark, chilly, and an especially snowy evening since it will guarantee a good scare Andy time of year!!

Theresa (mysteries.and.mayhem) (mysteriesandmayhem) | 359 comments The Hollows by Daniel Church is a great winter read with some Lovecraft nods.

Marie | 4075 comments Dead of Winter by Brian Moreland is a creepy ghostly story that takes place in winter.

Dang, I added this book to my TBR because everyone says it's quintessential to horror, but now I'm excited because I think I just realized winter horror is my favorite subgenre.

That was an awesome book and thanks to you all over here it was a group read back in January of 2017 which I participated in with you all and that is what started my journey of checking out Brian Moreland's books. :)

Jennifer | 416 comments I have read most of the books on the list. I do need to read The Only Good Indians. Got it on my nightstand.

Yes, I thought it was set in the winter. One of the scariest books I ever read. I read it when I was in high school and couldn't go in the basement for weeks afterwards!!

Randy Money | 462 comments Check out Lucky Girl: How I Became A Horror Writer: A Krampus Story by M. Rickert

I think she's written stronger stories, but that's not to say this isn't good. It is.

I'll add my voice in praise of both Ghost Story and The Only Good Indians, and to agree with the list that Midnight Sun by Ramsey Campbell is well worth reading, too.
