Lynne Stringer | 280 comments Juliet Marillier lives in Australia (she was born in New Zealand) and she's a great fantasy writer. I loved Heart's Blood Heart's Blood by Juliet Marillier and the Blackthorn and Grim series particularly. The first one is Dreamer's Pool. Dreamer's Pool (Blackthorn & Grim, #1) by Juliet Marillier

One of our members here, Jeanette O'Hagan, writes great fantasy books. I can especially recommend Akrad's Children. Akrad's Children (Akrad's Legacy, #1) by Jeanette O'Hagan

NR Eccles-Smith also has a good YA fantasy series. The first book is Kinseeker. Kin Seeker (Dragon Calling #1) by N.R. Eccles-Smith

Thank you! She is a fan of Juliet Marillier, so I will pass on the other recommendations and hopefully she likes those too!

Krystal (krystallee6363) | 2365 comments Second Juliet Marillier; recently finished her The Harp of Kings trilogy which was fun.

I've also enjoyed Jo Spurrier's Black Sun trilogy (Winter Be My Shield being the first), Kylie Chan's White Tiger series and the Medoran Chronicles by Lynette Noni (Akarnae)

Thanks so much. You have all managed to come up with recommendations that the sceptical fantasy buff hadn't heard of so that's a win! Sorry for creating multiple threads-no idea how that happened, but sometimes when I do GR on my ipad things go a but haywire!
