@25: I'm liking it so far. I'm enjoying the smart-ass, sly humor. I was getting worried that it was taking too long to introduce the other MC, but it was worth the wait (and bonus his POV, too.) The cheese doodle incident and the shower scene had me laughing. It slipped past me that this was a shifter book. I'm intrigued about what's going to happen on that front. All in all, a good start.Am I right to assume that Gabe and Sloane were more than partners in the professional sense?
@25 You are very correct in assuming Gabe and Sloane were very much partners. I loved this one, the snark and the comebacks between both MC's are hilarious. I missed a little of this come book 4 it's fun to revisit them. Dex is seriously awesome.
Right? When I started this I think I didn't realized it was a shifter book until I started it as well. It's a very well written shifter book.
@50So the crime bits are reading kinda slow on this second run, but I still love Dex and Sloane. What do you think about the first sex scene?
Hmmm... the first sex scene. It didn't really leave an impression, to tell you the truth. It was a pretty standard scene. I loved the chase before and the talk after more. I'm ready for these two to have a real talk. I'm guessing Pearce is either in on the killing or some other sinister plot or is being set up for the next book.
Yep, Pearce was the bad guy. It was weird because his personality really changes from nice guy to total fucking nuts but the end. I thought the first love scene was pretty dull, but they got better after. If you saw I only gave this book 4 stars, the next and the third were my favorites so far.
LOL I'm reading three books right now, Cake, Rescued, and this one. I'm getting whiplash from the drastically different themes.
And for that matter I'm jumping from the Nook app, the Kindle app, to the Scribd app I'm all over the place!
Done. Not sure how I'd rate this yet. I'll have to let it simmer for a minute. Parts I loved (especially from about 76 percent-82 percent. Perfect. Wanted more of that), but there weren't enough of them. The action and world-building overtook Sloane and Dex, and it wasn't until the end that the case caught my attention. The ending was very movie-esque, and I'm intrigued. You said you liked the sequel better. In what way?
Hey.... *head shake* LONG day=little reading. The next one had more moments btw Dex and Sloane, and the plot waaaas maybe a little more interesting. This one was a bit tedious for me the next had a more over-all enjoyment factor to it for me.
