I'm slightly rusty on the hierarchy within law enforcement but, if the Chief was that concerned over the last 6 years - I feel like he could've asked someone how she was doing and why she wasn't being promoted at any time. This is why it felt like her being hired was just playing lip service to having a female officer on 'the team'
I don't know if anything will change in the future. Clarridge did not ask why John Doe was promoted over Tracy for a particular job. If he really cared about this not happening to other women, he would delve into it, asking lots of questions about their process. It sounds like he wants to fix this one incident and go on with their normal process.
I think you’re both right. Time will tell but once you open that door, others will follow and it gets harder to shut it. And, you’ve got Tracy in place to be an advocate, not with her voice but with her performance.
I agree with all of you. It takes that one person to make a difference and Tracy will be a shining example so that other women get a chance.
