Also, when Kit believes it's her presumably dead sister on tv, it didn't feel as big of a deal...I mean she was suprised but not shocked if you know what I mean.

That's cool Corina--Is Veronica based on a real person? Is the art like described on page 15 and later on in the book? Are feijoas tasty?

Not a fan of feijoas myself, you either love them or hate them. I wasn't born in NZ so I didn't grow up eating them.

Thanks for the info! No, it was not very important to the plot at all, I thought.

Oh... bummer, Corina. I was planning to start this one soon.

I agree Carol, the reaction to seeing Josie is very modest, almost passe. Wouldn't the Mom reach out to the MC/daughter with a phone call instead of waiting for her to stop by? It doesn't make sense.

yes! that's what is was about this book. it had such vibrant descriptions of the atmosphere, the art, etc.

I find it challenging when people don't mark spoilers in reviews since many read reviews to consider reading a book or discussions since people are at different points while participating on the discussion, I guess they assume people jump in when finished?

May I suggest using an alternative form of discussion? One group I was in had two discussions, one was spoiler free, where people made general comments as they progressed through the story, the other discussion was for those who finished the book and could share whatever because everyone had read the book.
I know it might be a bit more time consuming depending on the book and the number of readers but maybe not.

From the author of The Art of Inheriting Secrets comes an emotional new tale of two sisters, an ocean of lies, and a search for the truth.
Her sister has been dead for fifteen years when she sees her on the TV news…
Josie Bianci was killed years ago on a train during a terrorist attack. Gone forever. It’s what her sister, Kit, an ER doctor in Santa Cruz, has always believed. Yet all it takes is a few heart-wrenching seconds to upend Kit’s world. Live coverage of a club fire in Auckland has captured the image of a woman stumbling through the smoke and debris. Her resemblance to Josie is unbelievable. And unmistakable. With it comes a flood of emotions—grief, loss, and anger—that Kit finally has a chance to put to rest: by finding the sister who’s been living a lie.
After arriving in New Zealand, Kit begins her journey with the memories of the past: of days spent on the beach with Josie. Of a lost teenage boy who’d become part of their family. And of a trauma that has haunted Kit and Josie their entire lives.
Now, if two sisters are to reunite, it can only be by unearthing long-buried secrets and facing a devastating truth that has kept them apart far too long. To regain their relationship, they may have to lose everything.
