Each month's Book of the Month nominations must fit that month's theme. Nominations may be any style of comic (American, European, manga, etc) that meets the following requirements:
- Fits the month's theme - Available in English - Available digitally (legally) - Available in print - Is NOT an Omnibus or multi-volume collection - Something our group has not read before (IRCB's read shelf)
February: “You pick” non-traditional art style Description: Members pick their own theme book. Watercolor, two-color, etc. (May be extended to more months.)
*March: Writer and/or artist is a person of color Description: Comics or manga where one or more creators is a person of color.
April: Anthology comics Description: Comics or manga that contain multiple self-contained stories.
*May: Runners up comics! Description: Selection out of all the second-place nominations from past BotM polls. Mods will post all options from 2018-2021.
June: Favorite read from 2021 Description: Pick your favorite comic that you read in 2021 and let us know why we should read it! The comic does not need to have been published in 2021.
*July: Sports comics Description: It’s summertime! Time to play sports! Go outside! Play a sport. But also read a comic about sports? Yes.
August: Banned comics Description: Do you know a comic that’s been banned or challenged? Nominate it! A list of banned books can be found at http://cbldf.org/banned-challenged-co...
*September: 2022 Eisner Award winners Description: Winners of the 2022 Eisner Awards!
October: Spooky-not-scary comics Description: We don’t want to scare the pants off of you, so rather than reading HORROR comics, let’s read something spooky and seasonally appropriate!
*November: Non-traditionally collected/released comic Description: Comics collected that have been released through non-traditional (ie. Diamond / comiXology) means. Webtoons, Kickstarter, comic strips, etc.
December: Made into a movie or show Description: You saw it on screen, now let’s read the comic it was based on!
