Lyn Denison - Gold FeverI read the original Gold Fever in 1998 from Naiad Press, so it was awesome to see this one get re-issued as an e-book by the author.
The other wonderful surprise was that it's made an appearance on Audible with a wonderful Aussie narrator.
This book held a special place in my heart when I was really young, fresh out of the closest and nursing my first heart break in a world where there was no real widespread representation in the world.
Most of the Naiad Press books back in the day were not set in Australia. Something we still kind of struggle with, tho we do now have Lee Winter, KJ, G Benson, Chayenne Blue, EJ Noyes and Virginia Hale that have really smashed the genre open for local audiences.
With a ever deepening pool of romance authors overseas and a limited local market, it's always like treasure to find good Australian content. So thank you to these queer / WLW / lesbian writers for the content.
As for Gold Fever today. IMO it still holds up. An adorable second chance/first loves reunited romance, the tension and the chemistry between Kate and Ashley has stood the test of time. Teenage sweethearts torn apart by circumstance and the attitudes of the day get a second shot at love a decade later. <3
The audiobook simply improves the whole experience, with all the right pauses and word emphasis in the Australian turns of phrase.
Recommend this one if you'd like a timeless classic from Australian lesfic.

I very much agree - I loved the books of Lyn Denison when they came out.
Lyn Denison thanks you so much for your kind words. It was actually another Aussie writer, Claire McNab, who suggested I try a lesbian romance for Naiad Press. Add Darlene V, an amazing reader, and the journey began.
Second chance is my favorite romance trope. Might I suggest Getting Back by Cindy Rizzo (aka me), published by Ylva.
I just finished Delay Game Delay of GameSports romance, it’s the second book I have listened to by Tracey Richardsons. Great story and narration.
