Hi Carolien and others, I have started. First I would like to confirm editions. I am reading
, published in 1966 by Stanmore Press Ltd, and only has 363 pages. GR has
up front, which has 696 pages. It is listed as paperback, but sounds more like a kindle to me.

Well this is fun. I had a look at the second edition which is a Kindle and it seems to have more stories than my original, hardcover copy. There are some poems in this edition that is definitely not in my copy.
I have this one:
. The first story in mine is The Spawn of the Dragon. The Kindle one starts with a poem called This I Choose. There is nothing in the introduction to explain the different contents.

As long as we are on the same edition, I'm going to assume it's the original and ignore the Kindle version

Hi Carolien, I just finished Indaba, My Children: African Tribal History, Legends, Customs and Religious Beliefs. How far are you? I was actually very impressed with it, and really liked how the author managed to to capture the spirit of of story-telling in the various tales.
It's been going really slowly between work and packing. I'm enjoying the few stories I have managed to far, but it will take me the rest of the month to get there.
I agree the tone contributes to the story-telling atmosphere, you can imagine these being told around a fire somewhere.
