Fairy Tale
Legendary storyteller Stephen King goes deep into the well of his imagination in this spellbinding novel about a seventeen-year-old boy who inherits the keys to a parallel world where good and evil are at war, and the stakes could not be higher—for their world or ours.
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a hit-and-run accident when he was ten, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. Then, when Charlie is seventeen, he meets Howard Bowditch, a recluse with a big dog in a big house at the top of a big hill. In the backyard is a locked shed from which strange sounds emerge, as if some creature is trying to escape. When Mr. Bowditch dies, he leaves Charlie the house, a massive amount of gold, a cassette tape telling a story that is impossible to believe, and a responsibility far too massive for a boy to shoulder.
Because within the shed is a portal to another world—one whose denizens are in peril and whose monstrous leaders may destroy their own world, and ours. In this parallel universe, where two moons race across the sky, and the grand towers of a sprawling palace pierce the clouds, there are exiled princesses and princes who suffer horrific punishments; there are dungeons; there are games in which men and women must fight each other to the death for the amusement of the “Fair One.” And there is a magic sundial that can turn back time.
A story as old as myth, and as startling and iconic as the rest of King’s work, Fairy Tale is about an ordinary guy forced into the hero’s role by circumstance, and it is both spectacularly suspenseful and satisfying.
I find it a little irritating that the news broke everywhere, news, magazines, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram before his site has even been updated. I look there at least once a week because I knew there had to be an announcement soon.Aaaaargh!
@kandice I looked for updates on his site too and it was weird because it only mentioned gwendys final task.

Exactly! I'm wondering if the opening is to another level of the Tower.

I'm always dying for another Holly story! Hopefully, the rumblings you saw are true and we do end up getting one!

I wonder if this will wander into DT territory at all? Seems it has a lot of potential to be tied to THE tower. Looking forward to this as I was the phenomenal (for me) The Institute.
Angie wrote: "The release date 9+6+2+2=19"Angie, I am so glad you posted this! I noticed that as well, but thought I was just being super nerdy and that it couldn't have been intentional. I am now happy to believe it was.
It does get me thinking, though, he generally writes at least two a year and this will put him behind some. I wonder if he waited for a Tuesday that would work with the numbers? Maybe we could have gotten this earlier...

I think it was intentional, I have seen other posts about it. I don't know if King has confirmed that was what he was going for, though.
Wyatt wrote: "Thé Talisman is one of my favourites and this reminds me of that one a lot. So so excited"Wyatt I haven't read The Talisman yet but I'm reading Black House now my wife got it for me for Christmas, I'm really likeing. But I'm like you can't wait to read Fairy Tale sounds like a great read.
Thanks for the heads up! I haven’t heard that this was being released until now. Added it to my “want to read” list and will keep a look out for when I can preorder. Thank you again, can’t wait to read this one!
If Randall Flagg is mentioned in this book, then count me in too :D I would like to hear from Leland Gaunt again as well, this one was very mysterious.
P.S. I stumbled upon this book, the cover artwork reminds me a lot of Stephen King's Fairy Tale. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
Maybe it's a good recommendation for those waiting for Fairy Tale.

@Horrorbabe911: That is so awesome and talk about an awesome birthday gift! Happy early birthday :-)

So am I!
Mine says arriving 13th or 14th (Amazon pre-order). But they often move those expected dates up once the book is actually released as this one will be on Sept. 6th.
@Kandice/@Erin: LoL sorry, I shouldn't have worded it like that, I meant I PRE-ORDERED my copy for my Kindle. It won't be downloaded until midnight on 9/5 as I've done this before with Billy Summers/Later :-)

I had seen rumblings about an upcoming book being a Holly Gibney story set during the virus. This does not sound like that book.
