It sounds like Twists of Fate: A Pride and Prejudice Variation
A friend of mine is reading a recent modern-day Persuasion story that involves academics in southern California, with the two protagonists having gone to Princeton—does that ring any bells with anyone? (I asked my friend but she says she’s reading on Kindle and doesn’t want to close the book to see the title page till she has finished reading it because then it will get marked as “read.”)

It was called By the Book.
Here is the BookFirst link as well and they have a preview (first look) that allows you to read the first couple chapters: https://www.bookishfirst.com/books/by...Hope this helps and is the right book.
I read a blurb, now I can't recall if it is to be published, already published or a fanfic from somewhere.Collins visits Hertfordshire and he is handsome and he and Lizzy hit it off right away. However, Lady Anne Darcy (still alive) believes he is actually her son. something about being switched at birth?
Ring any bells? TIA
I'm looking for one where prior to the events in the book Elizabeth is ..well shall we say "inopportuned" on one of her morning rambles and finds herself with child. It's kept very quiet and when the Bennets find out it's at the same time that Aunt Gardiner is due. So Mrs B & Elizabeth go off to assist with the birth, word is spread that Mrs B is with child and once Elizabeth gives birth to a boy, they return home where her son is raised as her brother. I remember Mrs B being very worried at the beginning of the book that the new arrivals in Meryton would take an interest in Elizabeth because she can never marry.

Hello everyone! I am looking for jaff I've read some time ago, although I can't recall if it was pub or unpub work. In it, while Darcy proposes to Lizzy at Hunsford, he looms over her quite threateningly, which leads to her becoming startled and defensive in equal measure, -- and resolving all their issues early on.
I'd so loved to re-read it but can't seem to find the right blurb. Thank you in advance!
When scenes get stuck in your head... but you can't remember what book it is from!Like I have an image of Elizabeth standing with her 6 or 7 yo brother, over their parents graves. (I was convinced it was from In default of heirs male, but no)???
Another one- Mr Bennet dies and Mrs B packs up all the girls and takes them to Bath? Brighton? to find husbands. I think she herself gets remarried???
I get flashes, sometimes when I am falling asleep and then forget by the time morning comes up.
Do you think I may be reading too much? LOL

Sam, could the one with Elizabeth and her young brother standing at their parent’s graves be Unwilling by Elizabeth Adams? I think that is in the epilogue.
The second sounds familiar as well, if my memory is correct, I think it may be a book by Jennifer Joy.
Hope that helps!😊
Thank you Dawn. You are probably right about Unwilling. Most reviewers won't give that away. I don't recall the book, but my review tells me I didn't like it (eye-roll at myself)Not sure about the Jennifer Joy tho...
I’m looking for a book I saw reviewed on here. I thought I would remember it. Hahaha. I can’t remember anything these days. Reviewers were comparing the plot of this book to The Journey by Jan Hahn.
Also, I read a book where Darcy and Elizabeth are kidnapped during the proposal and can’t remember that one either.
Thank you in advance.
The second could beKidnapped by Babsy1221
The first seems familiar but I haven't had an inspiration yet.

The second book sounds interesting and I don't think I have read it but might want to if someone else remembers.
I read another book called Mr. Darcy's Refuge: A Pride & Prejudice Variation were they get stuck together because of a flood after his proposal that might interest you and I think I have read some with kidnappings but I don't think they involved the proposal.
Good luck!
I remembered the second one overnight- it’s The Long Road to Longbourn by Summer Hanford and Renata McMann. It’s very good. The first one was a KU book because that’s all I’m reading right now.

Anne, Follies and Vices: A Pride and Prejudice Variation is similar to The Journey and I’ve seen the two compared in reviews. Hope that helps. I loved F&V and if you haven’t read it, I would highly recommend it. I personally thought it was better than The Journey.
Dawn, that’s it. I just read The Journey again because so many rave about it but I’m ambivalent because of the massive coincidence at the end.

abmom wrote: "With so many kidnapping stories, may we can have it as a theme for one month's challenge."So the kidnapping story I was thinking of was Rescuing Elizabeth Bennet. By Kate Beauford.
We should have that as a theme.

I just started a Listopia List for us to all add books to for this theme to help keep track of them all: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
Chelsea, that is so cool! Can we add ones where she was taken as a child? 'Cause there are a handful of those too.Taken
Out of obscurity
I never knew myself

Sure, that sounds like it fits the theme to me. I just try to discourage people from adding random books from completely different genres on the list that have nothing to do with JAFF.
I added these onto the list.
Hi all, I'm currently reading an unpublished story called This Terrible love by theabominablequeen. In this Darcy is in love with his mistress but marries Elizabeth. I remember someone mentioning a published work on the same line. Is there one or am I misremembering?
Well I haven’t read the FF one but in this one Darcy falls out of love with the mistress before the wedding. Then E &D have a fairly smooth going.
I searched for This Terrible Love on AHA. And read a few comments. It sounds like they are different. In the Sue Barr version Darcy loved his mistress but wanted an heir. He picked E because her low status would annoy his family.
The reason for marriage is the same in the FF but he keeps the mistress at the dower house at Pemberley and at one point he even allows her to live at Pemberley after his marriage. Darcy was really bad in the FF but that's what makes his transformation all the more worth it.
Does anyone know if there's a list with JAFF with a marriage of convenience (MoC)? I was unable to find one. Thanks!
Several of us have trope lists. Meredith over at Austenesque Reviews makes lists. I have a shelf labeled with various tropes. FMS/MOC [forced marriage scenario/marriage of convenience] is but one of them. I have 111 books tagged on that shelf. Often it is hard to differentiate between forced and a marriage of convenience so I just dumped them all in one category. Plus, I created a Word document with my tropes. This may or may not be useful and it certainly is not complete as I am not always diligent in keeping up.

You can also use the JAFF Index and its keyword search.

J. W. wrote: "You can also use the JAFF Index and use that title as the subject search.."Thanks for your list. Can you explain what this means?
That is a site at AHA [A Happy Assembly]. You can access several different reading rooms [Meryton Reading Room] [Pemberley Reading Room] and other places to look around and play. I usually get lost with so many choices. It is a function of the Meryton Literary Society [a nonprofit] with archived fan fiction based on Jane Austen's work. Have you visited AHA before? The index was created to help readers find a story.
Jeanne, I have a question about JAFF index website. I have used the website for so many searches, often for fanfiction stories or specific themes. But recently I couldn't find many stories in the index. I'm just curious if it is still maintained. I know how difficult a task it should be with so many websites and publications. I just wondered.
