Steph (angel4492) | 32808 comments Hiya, Team Caps! Thanks for volunteering to guide your team through a round of BookShelf Bingo!

Your job, should you choose to accept it, will require a few things:
1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)
4 ~ Post regularly to ensure your team is communicating and on track each week (Send them a PM and friendly poke if they haven't posted at least once a week, noted their book choice, and/or appear to have dropped out of webspace)
5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph, Sandra or Judithe) should you need us for any reason throughout the game

message 7: by Kim (new)

Kim Shumaker (kim_shumaker) | 707 comments Hi everyone! My name is Kim and this is my first group challenge ever so I'm a little nervous. I'm looking forward to reading with all of you :)

message 8: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Hi Kim and Steph!

No need to be nervous, Kim. I'm sure you'll do fine! Any questions you have feel free to ask. I've participated many times and Steph is a pro for obvious reasons. :)

I prefer not to be captain unless nobody else can take the job. Anybody thought of a name? The only thing that has come to mind is the title of that Agatha Christie book "five little pigs" or for those of us Grimm fans, Five Bauerschwein!

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Steph, D.G, Kim! I love BSB, and this is my fourth time. BSB is so much fun, Kim. You'll get the hang of it once you start. Going through the previous BSB threads would help a lot. We are always glad to help if you have any doubts or questions!

I'm from India, which means the shelf announcement will be sometime around 2.30 A.M in the at night/in the morning. So, I don't want to be captain.

I'm very bad with team names. Here are some common suggestions however:
Formidable five
Ferocious Five
Fierce Five
Fantastic Five
Fab5
High Five

I'm sure you all will have better ideas than this?

message 10: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I sort of like High Five. Other suggestions:

Nickel Xpress
Category 5
Five Gangstaz
Clan Pentagram

I like the idea of something with Pentagram but can't think of anything cleverer.

message 11: by Kim (new)

Kim Shumaker (kim_shumaker) | 707 comments Thank you for the warm welcome. Obviously I don't want to be Captain because I'm going to have a hard enough time figuring out what I'm doing but I'm willing to help in any way that I can. I live in NC and am currently looking out my front window to snow/ice covering the roads. I will spend the day cruising the previous BSB threads. Any name is fine with me.

message 12: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32808 comments Hi Ladies! Since no one else is interested, I can be captain. But, I'll be out of town with family the first two weeks of March. I'll be able to keep up with my reads, but that's about it. I'm not sure I'll be able to track everyone's posts - would someone else be willing/able to take over for those two weeks?

I'm not good with names, but I'll think on it today (after I get up bingo cards) and see what I can come up with to share.

Welcome Kim! I hope you'll enjoy the game. It's much harder to explain that it is to play, IMO. Looking at previous game threads is a good idea. Also, you can take a look at the shelves that'll be used for this round (they're listed here ) so you'll know what to expect. Don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions. :D

message 13: by Kim (new)

Kim Shumaker (kim_shumaker) | 707 comments Thanks Steph! I have a quick question - I am participating in The Hollows team read in addition to this. For the requirement of Leather or Lace could I use A Fistful of Charms (The Hollows, #4) by Kim Harrison even though I will be reading it in the team read?

message 14: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32808 comments Absolutely! Any (preferably PNR/UF-related) book over 200 pages is allowed. It can be one you've chosen for another challenge - either here at SOS or another group, website, blog.

message 15: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32808 comments Our bingo card is up, team. (see above) I'm sorry it's a bit fuzzy. You can print/save a copy for yourself by clicking on the link above the card.

message 16: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I can be your back-up, Steph! (I thought I had posted earlier in the day but I don't see the post!)

message 17: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Feb 17, 2015 02:48PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32808 comments Okay, here are some team name ideas ...
I just double checked and yep, I was on T#5 last round too :)

* Ferocious Five was used in the past

Some I suggested last round that weren't used:
Five by Five (In radio communication, the term is used to indicate perfect signal strength and clarity)
5 Second Rule

Since the number 5 kinda looks like an S we could use it to replace S in a word(s)?

I like Category 5. We could add Readers or some other noun w/it. I wouldn't mind something with Pentagram, but can't think of anything witchy clever.

We could use our first initials to create a name? P S D K

Reading in general -
Kindle Queens
Bibliobabes

Genre-ish ~
Paranormally Inclined
Falling for Fantasy
Fantastical Femme Fatales

Series-ish ~
Series Sirens

We could use 'Quin'-something, 'quin' is short for quintuplet ... like Quintessential something

I suck at this. >:p

Great, thanks DG. I'll add me as captain, but if you could jump in those two weeks, that'd be great!

D.G. | 2752 comments Wow, our first shelf is tomorrow! Anybody hoping for something in particular?

message 21: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Feb 17, 2015 03:16PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32808 comments No. Nothing in particular. Lookin' forward to Mr. R's polite nudge and help narrowing down the 100s I want to read.

❉ Pre-game Pep Rally ❉
✣ What's our name? Got any thoughts?
✣ Have you thought about your free space book? If not, take a minute to choose one now, so you can jump into it whenever you're ready. Free space books cannot be started until after the first shelf is announced. Once it is, go for it! Reminder: You must choose a book using one of these three options.
✣ Be sure to check in with us regularly so we know you're making progress on your book.
✣ All books must be 200+ pages. There are no genre restrictions, however we prefer, when possible, players stick with our group genre (PNR/UF).
✣ Have fun! Let's get our read on, ladies!

I'm thinking I'll read Lion's Share by Rachel Vincent for my Free Space book.

message 22: by Kim (new)

Kim Shumaker (kim_shumaker) | 707 comments Great name ideas, Steph. I like Five By Five (5x5; 5 by 5) - I love the radio communication definition. There is also the fact of having to have 5 stamps in a row for Bingo. I also like Paranormally Inclined and Series Sirens (or 5eries 5irens using "5" instead of "S"). I'm looking for my Free Space book and will post when I figure out what I'm going to use.

message 23: by D.G. (last edited Feb 18, 2015 04:40AM) (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Here are the ones I liked:

- Five by Five (spelled out...wouldn't want to have 3 5s in the team name thread! LOL!)
- Category 5 (I thought our nickname could be the Hurricanes! hahaha!)
- Series Sirens (either spelled out like that or with the 5 instead of the first S) - another team picked a very similar name
- High Five (I have visions of us going "High Five!" "Gimme Five!" every time we get a stamp, hahahaha!)

message 24: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I have no clue of what I'll read for the Free Space but I should be able to pick something soon. I'm reading 3 books right now at the same time and I'd like to finish at least one before I start any of the books for this challenge!

message 25: by [deleted user] (last edited Feb 17, 2015 10:22PM) (new)

I like Bibliobabes, Series Sirens, and High Five (Ha Ha, D.G., now I'll never get that image out of my head!)

I've narrowed down my choices for the free space to 4 books. But I'll let you all know once I finalize a book.

message 26: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I'm striking out Series Sirens from my list of possibles...another team is called Series Minions and I'm seeing myself clicking on their team thread by mistake!! Hahaha!

message 27: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Feb 18, 2015 01:03PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32808 comments Hi ladies! Our first shelf is up! :D
Shelf #1 ~ 18 Feb 2015: Favorite
Read a favorite ~ series, author, genre, paranormal ability or being, etc

Hmmm, we seem to be liking different team names. Looks these two are favored: Five by Five or High Five. I like D.G.'s "gimme five", which my nephew used to always say when he was younger. So, I guess I'm leaning towards High Five or Gimme Five. Any preferences one either of those Preethi? I'm cool with either or any, really.

I'm going to scope out my bookshelves and see what 'favorites' I have for this shelf. Let's get this party started! :D

message 32: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32808 comments I'm in the mood for some smexy PNR, so I'm going to read one of these for FAVORITES: Already Freakn' Mated (Freakn' Shifters, #3) by Eve Langlais or Hawk's Revenge (Lone Pine Pride, #3) by Vivi Andrews . I'll let ya know which I settle on.

message 33: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32808 comments I love it, DG! Pretty clear which way you're leaning. And, now I'll be sending a virtual high five to all with each stamp, no matter which name we settle on. :D

message 34: by Kim (new)

Kim Shumaker (kim_shumaker) | 707 comments I love it! Either name is fine with me. I was visualizing the "High Five" when we get a stamp too. :)
I am going to read The Calling The Calling (Immortals, #1) by Jennifer Ashley by Amanda Ashley as my Free Space read. Not sure on my Favorite. Will decide this evening.

message 35: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32808 comments Ok, Preethi, it's all up to you - High Five?

I haven't read that series, Kim. I'll be interested to hear how you like it.

message 36: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments For the Free Read, I think I'm leaning towards Tempting Danger (World of the Lupi, #1) by Eileen Wilks , which I found in the Group Bookshelf (I think it's in one of the lists too.)

Favorite is such an easy shelf, that I may see what I feel like reading once I'm done with one of the gazillion books I'm reading right now.

message 37: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32808 comments Sounds good. I'm trying to finish up two now too. But, one's an audiobook that I'll just continue to listen to as I have time. I should finish my other book today.

I'll go ahead and add that as your FS read - lemme know if you swap it with another.

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Sure. High Five's good:)

*Off to go check what I would like to read for this shelf *

message 39: by Kim (new)

Kim Shumaker (kim_shumaker) | 707 comments Sorry Steph, The Calling is from the SOS bookshelf.

message 40: by Kim (new)

Kim Shumaker (kim_shumaker) | 707 comments Lord I'm having all sorts of problems. The Calling is by Jennifer Ashley not Amanda.

message 41: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Good morning, High Fivers! I hope you have some opportunity to slap some hands today (in a good way!) Hahahaha!

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

For my favourite shelf, I will be reading Dead Heat (Alpha & Omega, #4) by Patricia Briggs .

Still trying to choose for freespace.

message 43: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Ohhhhh....you have that?? I'm still waiting. (Now running off to amazon to see WHY I'm still waiting...) *beaming jealous eyes at Preethi...and considering whether to rush over to her place and steal her book*

I got the ARC too but I already read it (haven't reviewed it yet though..will do so close the release date.) I also read Vision in Silver (The Others #3) by Anne Bishop . So no reading either one for Favorites. :)

message 50: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Feb 19, 2015 11:11AM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32808 comments HIGH FIVES ALL AROUND! :D

No worries, Kim, I'll add that info.

LOL Judithe! :D

I read those too, DG. Loved both. I thought for sure my pleas on NG would get denied. I'm hoping this means I'll have better luck (on NG) with those two authors/pubs in the future.

Well, I was scrolling through my Kindle, about to click on Hawk's Revenge, when I spotted The Beautiful Ashes sitting there staring at me. I had forgotten that I had it. Since Jeaniene Frost is one of my favorite authors, I read that instead. And, I read it in one sitting. I'll post my review later today.

Happy reading, H5s!
