This is the children's group read for February. It is a short read that should be perfect for this short month. I have always enjoyed little bear and my oldest son really liked the cartoon.

I finished this last night and it was very cute. The scene about little bear coming in and needing more clothes because he is cold just made me laugh. That seems to be a standard with my kids when the go outside. The ending was cute, with little bear trying so hard to get a story and stay awake, while mother bear was trying to get him to go to sleep. Such a sweet book and I will read this to my younger kids today on our snow day.

I treasure them very much and keep them for my (hopefully) grandchildren when they arrive. They are funny, comforting to both children and adults and can be read again and again. We've had good talks about the issues little bears and indeed big bears might encounter and how to manage or overcome them with the love which oozes out of the books.

She and Little Bear each have their individual worlds, but they come together to express their love and to meet Little Bear's needs for clothing, food, sleep, and security. I love how they tease each other sweetly. And that Little Bear can do imaginative, "dangerous" things that today's children would often be sheltered from, e.g. cooking birthday soup, jumping from a tree, wandering outside alone, going out to play, and pretending.
