Karin | 9277 comments This is a tough topic infused with some humour to help ease tension and written for the scientific layperson. Kang and Pederson have laid this out in a logical order, lumping various types of quackery (some well meaning, and a few that led to some bonafid contemporary medical practices.

It's easy to think about how stupid people were--and sometimes they were gullible and stupid or else just blindly idiotic, but quackery is still plentiful, even among the highly educated. There were things in here I'd never heard of, and I had heard of plenty in the past, so it's worth a gander even for those who have read about this sort of thing before, unless, of course, you have done an exhaustive study on this part of history.
