I read this last year and liked it, the world and characters were interesting. I wish it had been more fleshed out like a novel. As it was it was just too short.

Do you like the characters? Not really. I found the MC very unlikeable, even after she (view spoiler). I think the shape-shifting n--- was my favorite character. (I listened to the audio, so I don't know how to spell the creature's name.)
What questions/ thoughts did the book elicit for you?
Does finally doing the right thing make up for all the harm caused in the interim...I don't think it does.
What rating do you give this book? 3 stars. It was okay, not bad and not great.
What are your compliments and criticisms for the author?
It was interesting. The phrasings were unique, but the magic not wholly original. I liked how it started with action and not back story. For a short piece, we got a full picture of the MC's life and world.
Thought about novelettes? Too short? Just right? I was okay with the length. If it was longer I might not have finished as I dislike the MC on a fundamental level.
Other I will listen to the second novelette in the audio. This is my second book by this author and I will likely read more by her.
