Sierra Grace | 1 comments Very excited to begin Dream Catcher and discuss among fans

Murray Moore | 109 comments I've read Dreamcatcher a couple of years ago on a cruise I really liked it . I think Sai King did a good job at a sci fi type novel. But I'm a sucker for the type of story Dreamcatcher told. Plus I've got the kind of sense of humor that loved the &@#%weasels .

Alexandra II the nine lives of my library | 1 comments My Dreamcatcher arrived today. This is my first time reading it. I’m so excited to start it tonight!

LeAnna | 1 comments On my way to the library to pick up a copy. So excited to read along with you guys! It’s been 15 years since I last read Dreamcatcher!

Wyatt | 90 comments 60 pages in. Interesting concept so far. It always astounds me at how quickly Stephen King can get me to care about a character.

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments I'm one of the folks who didn't like this book, though a second reading got me to three stars from one star. Here's my long 3-star review, why I felt better about the book, and why I still didn't like it.

Latasha (latasha513) | 434 comments Ok, I have to confess- I’m not enjoying this very much. I don’t hate it but I don’t love it either. I’m up to the military part and enjoying that even less. I’m am definitely not trying to start a fight but to me, I feel SK wrote this to jump on the aliens is hot right now bandwagon. I’m not giving up yet but I doubt this will be a favorite.

Kandice | 4387 comments I really love the relationships in the book, but really do NOT like the military parts.

It's interesting to keep in mind as you read that he wrote this longhand on yellow legal pads, no word processor.

It's amazing the difference a word processor makes in the ability to edit, revise and fix a book. Of course, masters like King probably don't need it as much. But imagine crossing out words again and again and again until you finally get things right, switching whole sections from one chapter to another.

I can't even begin to imagine it!

Neil Gaiman writes ALL of his books longhand, someone types them up, and he edits from there. Joe Hill took Gaiman's advice about it and wrote one of his books that way. Hill said it made him choose words, phrasing, etc, in a much more intentional and thoughtful way, and he felt that the end result was therefore cleaner and needed less editing.

King writes so fast, I imagine it would really slow him down.

Always a good idea when you really don't like the book.

Scott | 169 comments Hi Fellow King fans and readers,

I have finished this month's reading of King's "Dreamcatcher" and posted my review on the following page:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

My suggestion is that you will probably not want to look at it until after you have finished your own reading.

Also, truth requires that I admit that this was one of the few King novels that I really struggled with, both with the plotting as well as the characters. It just wasn't really for me. For those who enjoyed it, you have all my respect. I am moving on to the next one...

Best wishes everyone!

I agree Scott. After my first read, I had this down as one of the two worst books King ever wrote... the other being Desperation. After my latest read I liked it a little better, but when it's on a list of King books, not being very good still puts it close to the bottom.

Again, you and I are on the same page. I would put Dreamcatcher, Desperation, and the Regulators in my bottom 5 most likely. I liked the first 200 pages of both Desperation and Dreamcatcher, then it was all downhill from there. I think I didn't get 80 pages into The Regulators and I was struggling. However, with over 70 published works of fiction, they are not all going to be great. That's okay and doesn't take away my love for King's writing in the least...

Have a great month!

Dana Johnson (queenofstereo) | 76 comments I’ve finally made it to where the military arrives. (Maybe I’m just a super slow reader on this one :/ ). I still enjoy the book-but I have noticed how invested we all become with the MCs and when new characters are introduced-we tend to view them as outsiders and enemies. Maybe it’s just me; but it’s like we don’t want anything to happen to “the gang” because they’ve been so built up and we’ve invested all this time into them (even tho most of us have read this or seen the movie and know what happens).. anyone else feel the same way?? I want to give Kurtz and his crew the same affection but it’s a struggle…😂
