Roy | 4 comments I bought this book at a Christian bookstore in the ‘90s, between’91 to ‘96. My sister purchased a Frank Peretti book the same time, either “The Prophet” (1992) or “The Oath.” (1995), but that does not indicate an exact published date for my book in question.

This book had a red cover with a one-word title (possibly with personal pronoun “The”), and the front page had a disclaimer that the book could affect your spirit and state of mind, as it would be scary as hell. (That’s why I bought it.)

It was about a girl who marries a guy and soon into their marriage her mental health starts declining and she starts to go crazy. At some point, early in the story, she gives her life to Christ and after a series of investigation, the newlyweds learns that the wife was dedicated to the devil as a child by none other than real life occultist, Aleister Crowley. Now other occultists are after the wife to reclaim her from her Christianity.

I tried searching for this book about a decade ago and already found that it was out-of-print, although I did (at that time) remembered the title and found it online. If memory serves me correctly, the author may have been a “John James.” That stuck to my memory, because the frontman of the Christian band, The Newsboys, was also a John James (although not the same person).

I tried searching the name in a copyright search, through ISBN search, the Library of Congress, and… nothing. It’s not by Frank Peretti or Ted Dekker, or any popular author.

If you can, please help.

Great guess, but sadly not. Thank you though!

Still doesn't seem quite right, though.

Close but no cigar.

Rainbowheart | 29000 comments Have you checked Bill Myers?

He's written some Christian horror.

Roy, you must put plot details in your topic header/title.

We close threads that don't contain plot details. Please do this right away.
