Hi Chong,

I recommend you check out the Featured Author” and “Find a book or series” sections of the site. I would also suggest the group bookshelf. 😉

Judith A. | 1 comments The Cookie House Mystery Series (3), by Eve Calder. Love the main character Kate (a pastry chef) who runs a bakery, her best friend Maxi & her delightful sweet labridoodle dog, Oliver who are all in to solve a mystery. The series is funny, yummy, and exciting to the finish. The third book has several cookie recipies. :):)

debbicat *made of stardust* (cr8zycat) | 2 comments I don’t read a lot of cozies. I’m more of a mystery reader or thriller. I am having trouble sleeping lately and need to turn the tv off. I am thinking a good cozy reading in bed might by the just the thing. I don’t want a lot of food references. I’ll want to snack. I love cats. Dogs too. But cats best and a couple are piled up next to me in bed usually. No page turner’s obviously bc I need to sleep.

Any suggestions?

debbicat *made of stardust* (cr8zycat) | 2 comments And I’m not much of a romance reader. Chick lit is ok.

Zermeena | 366 comments Debbicat - you could try the Mrs. Murphy mysteries by Rita Mae Brown. Mrs. Murphy co-authors the books with Rita Mae!

Deity World (deityworld) Sally Hepworth one of my fav authors check my bookshelf for reviews

ShaeDuke | Upstate NY | 3 comments Kylie Logan books fit the bill....
Mayhem at the Orient Express (League of Literary Ladies ) - book discussion group forced together by courts...and the end up solving mysteries
Chili Con Carnage (Chili Cook Off Mysteries); they chilis spices/seasonings, travel...and the main character dresses up in a giant chili costume, what more could you ask for?
Irish Stewed (Ethnic Eats Mysteries) - opens a bistro in a small town

Hummus and Homicide - Tina Kashian (Kebab Kitchen Mysteries) love the family dynamics and the food sounds delicious

Homicide in Hardcover (Bibliophile Mysteries) Kate Carlisle - I always learn something about books in this one, but more how they are build/history/age etc. Not just talk of them

By Book of By Crook - Eva Gates (LIghthouse Library Mysteries); love this little library and would very much want to visit

Readaholic Jenn (readaholicjenn) | 12 comments Have you tried the Meg Langslow series by Donna Andrews? They're so fun. I think the first one is called Murder with Peacocks.

message 15: by Denise (new)

Denise (drams5) Assault and Pepper was fun. I just discovered Debbie Young's cozy mysteries. They take place in a small village, so they cover lots of interests and hobbies. There's a book shop. :) The one I read was Murder at the Well, but I wouldn't necessarily start there. There were a few references to earlier books that might be spoilers.

message 16: by Chris (new)

Chris | 18 comments Cozy *audiobooks* for women over 50. In other words, the main character is over 50 years old. Is there such a thing?

I don't know that book. But I did listen to another one called, "and then she vanished". narrated by Ray Porter
If you like sci-fi time travel. It was pretty good

The one my library has available as an audiobook is the Golden Triangle. I was astonished to hear the voice of Mr Q from the Cat Who books doing the intro.

ada ☆ | 2 comments perhaps a dumb question, but i want to start reading cozy mysteries and was wondering if anyone had recs with romance?

Readaholic Jenn (readaholicjenn) | 12 comments Jenn McKinlay's Cupcake Bakery series and Library Lover's series both are cozy and have romance.

Take2 | 11 comments I love to "theme read" and what I'm looking for at the moment is a book(s) set in Delaware. I'd especially love anyone to rec cozy mysteries set there!

message 25: by Meg (new)

Meg (makeli2) | 2386 comments Delaware is a hard one. It took me ages find a cozy set there. I finally found Secrets in a Bottle by Shelly West.

Woo hoo! Thank you Meg! I live in northern NJ but have been meaning to explore northern Delaware for ages. I had a weekend trip to the Wilmington Flower Market planned for months but I just broke 3 toes so now I'm not sure if I'll make it. (I need to stay off my feet and wear a medical shoe for 6 weeks.) Depends on how fast I heal. So I thought to read cozies set in Delaware as a combination inspiration to heal and a consolation if I miss this one.

message 27: by Meg (new)

Meg (makeli2) | 2386 comments You're welcome! Ugh about the broken toes, it must be a bear to get around. Hoping you'll make to the flower market. Likewise hoping that you'll enjoy the book.

It’s not a cozy mystery, but I quite enjoyed West of Rehoboth by Alexs D. Pate. If you want a cozy connection, the main character is a young boy who idolizes Hercule Poirot.

message 29: by Take2 (new)

Take2 | 11 comments Thanks Heather! After I posted my request for recs, I figured out how to keyword search this group where I saw this recommended several times for a challenge. I'm trying to find the books online now as I'm still in the trying to stay off my feet stage yet.

Zane Farley Street (zane-zubin-farleystreet) | 2 comments I would like to recommend you "Farley Street: A Supernatural Adventure of Self-Discovery, Magical Realism and Cosmic Battles."
you will love it.

message 31: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Silverman | 3 comments I love all the Elizabeth Peters books.

I also have an observation: the last two books that I have read, The Thursday Murder Club and Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone, are classified as cozies, but they seem a little too hard-edged for the genre. Has anyone else experience "cozy creep,"i.e., if a book isn't a thriller, hard-boiled, or a police procedural, then it is tossed into the cozy bin.

message 32: by Amy (new)

Amy Hands | 1 comments Please go read “the daughter” by TM Logan. Life changing book

message 33: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Silverman | 3 comments No, I think there are books that don't fit into any category so they are all lumped together as cozies, mine included. Richard Osman has beeb vocal about the fact that he doesn't like it when the book is called a cozy.
