I have not read any of Méndez's short stories or novels before, but have several on my TBR list. I want to read more books that take place outside of the United States and Canada, so am interested in the rural Argentina setting. The novel is also included on the 2021 Rise: A Feminist Book Project list, so I am curious to see how feminism/female empowerment is explored in the novel.

Méndez has previously written books for children and middle grades, as well as short stories for young adults. Furia is her first full-length young adult novel. It was nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award and was awarded the Pura Belpré Young Adult Award. The book is about Camila, a young girl living in rural Argentina, who dreams of being a soccer player against her parents' wishes.
Have you read any of Méndez's novels or short stories before? Are you interested in this book?
