“I carry my roots with me all the time rolled up, I use them as my pillow.”
― Francisco X. Alarcón

In Piku, the characters grip with this exact idea.
"Maybe this is the way forward. This is what people call development. But if you uproot your roots, what's left ?"
(Translated)

Who are we, if not for our roots? Isn't it the exact thing that has led us to being who we are today?

I'll be honest, I wonder at times about the pain and suffering of those before me. I marvel at their strength and resilience. Wish it could have been perfect for them. But the reality remains, and the questions persist.

How much of me is from them, am I the culmination of their gifts, curses, prayers and pain?
