Beyond Reality discussion

Sorry to be a few days late with this! Tired teacher the week before vacation, my only excuse. Post here if you are reading or planning on reading Sundiver to kick off our Uplift series read! No spoilers please.

I read this many years ago and don’t plan to reread, but will be following the discussion with interest. I thought the series was so intriguing.

Agreed! SUNDIVER may be the best one on the series?

Just picked up my copy of this one, but I haven't started yet.

Somehow never got around to this. I read and enjoyed Brin's Earth some years ago, and Heart of the Comet, that he co-wrote with Greg Benford, so not sure why.


The anthologies of both the Uplift: The Complete Original Trilogy and Exiles: The Uplift Storm Trilogy are each £4 on Amazon UK.


Almost half way through, and am enjoying it, although I am finding the writing feels a bit dated. I did have quash a momentary annoyance at the idea of all the alien species having a patron species, going all the way back (it's no more logical than divine creation), but I am happy to suspend disbelief and see where he takes it.

I second Kathi. Will follow the discussion but may not have much to add. The book didn't leave a strong impression.

Actually I felt Uplift Wars is the best. I read it a long time ago.

A bit dry, but I like the idea of uplifted animals and solar aliens.

Great! I seem to be the only working through the second trilogy (or at least the only one commenting) so I look forward to hearing your thoughts :)
