A friend of mine told me that Pip said "we live forever in friends", but I cannot find this quote. Did he say this or anything like it? Can you Dickens aficionados help me here?

The phrase “ever best of friends” was said by Joe the blacksmith to Pip.

Ah, Joe Gargery. One of my favorites in all of Dickens.

Yes, Peter, that is the closest to the sentiment expressed in the initial post it gets in GE as far as I remember.

To whom could Pip have said "We live forever in friends"? To Herbert Pocket, maybe? Or, more wistfully, to Estella? I can't lay my finger on a definite quote, though.
