I am only planning to read one. I have a lot of books to read this month. But these are my choices and i will narrow it down when in a week or so.
1.
The Complete Tales of Uncle RemusOr
2.
The Heart of a DogP.S. would love to buddy read one of these. Friend me if you are interested.
Whale… Fox… Ladybird… Smaller and smaller…Herman Melville - Moby-Dick or, the Whale
D.H. Lawrence - Three Novellas: The Fox; The Ladybird; The Captain’s Doll
This is looking great! Lots of different ideas, so perhaps some of us will find more book recommendations from this challenge.
I'm about through with Moby Dick, but one doesn't merely read Moby Dick. I've studied taxonomy, evolution, and cetacean anatomy to better understand it. Since beginning it my interest has grown, and I've recently adopted a humpback whale named Salt through the WDC. In other words, it's a book that can greatly affect its reader.
I'll sign up but have no idea at this moment in time if I have something I'll be reading that will count or not. However, since it doesn't have to be the title I will probably have at least one. In February I read a book featuring twins, but it wasn't mentioned in the title, so c'est la vie.

rife with eagles, wolves, a man/bear and, of course, Smaug the Dragon. Finished on March 72 Vinyl Cafe Unplugged a FIVE STAR book, features more than one animal, including Arthur the dog--one section stars animals (not from their POV), but they are included in others. Mostly Arthur.

I'm in! I have some books from other challenges that qualify. 2/4 read 🐇
Three possibilities are
1. My Friend Flicka
2. The Yearling
🐇 3. Anatole
🐇 4. Five Children and It
🦎 I had an extra book from my Mt TBR that I started but it came due at the library too soon: War with the Newts
This is really exciting! I've linked everyone up to here so just copy out the template in your post!

1). Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
It was already on my reading list! Thank you for the challenge!
I don't know if this counts, but I just finished reading it and it was hilarious:The Stray Lamb by Thorne Smith
The main character gets transformed into different types of animals unexpectedly, and just as unexpectedly back into human form.
Yes, rosemarie, link to your original post and mark completed please! Sounds Great Karin!
I finished my first book, Island by huxley.
I am wondering if The Woman in the Dunes might qualify for this challenge? It features insects as a metaphor heavily. Not one type of insect.
Some very interesting book choices! Well done J.S., Rosemarie, Karin & Cosmic.Jazzy, as always you are ahead of me - you’ve finished your first book while I’m still dithering about what to read!

Cosmic, I think so - What do you say Trisha?Trisha, I'm reading 7 books at the minute, trying to balance all the challenges I have going on!
Fabulous, Kathy! i'm going to be reading that too - and you're linked!

Actually I was drawn to the book because of the metaphor of the insects!

Yes, I agree.
I never read 7 books at once, that’s very impressive Jazzy!

Great research, Cosmic!
Book Nerd wrote: "I'm reading The Call of the Wild. Short book I've been meaning to read for decades."That’s a good choice! I was considering reading it again but have found other books that are suitable too & won’t have time to read them all.
Just setting mine up. We had Celebrate Dr. Seuss Week at my school. My class read The Lorax, then picked out one or two lines of text to illustrate. As Mad as a March Hare!

The Call of the Wild was pretty good but it might be disturbing to anybody who loves dogs.I might try to read White Fang this month too.
Jazzy wrote: "did you know that the dogs in both were based on himself?"Based on Jack London? Well I guess any characters somebody writes are based on themself to a point.

Not necessarily :)! Many authors invent characters very different from themselves--I think there is quite a range.
Jazzy wrote: "I would have loved to see the pictures!"I took your comment seriously, but do not think I can post any of the artwork here. The students put names on the front, there are privacy issues...yadda yadda. It was a fun activity. I was trying to get across the point that illustration should reinforce and add additional information to a text. Good illustrations are more than simply decorative.
I am sure that people who are more tech saavy than I am would know how to blur parts of pics and all....
Karin wrote: "Book Nerd wrote: "Not necessarily :)! Many authors invent characters very different from themselves--I think there is quite a range"Whatever you do there will be some of you in a character you create.

I suppose that opinions vary--but I can and have seen a few writing a character who is the antithesis of themselves, even if they aren't the protagonist. Not commonly, though, because few people have that kind of personal awareness, etc.
Books are read:🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Herman Melville - Moby-Dick or, the Whale
The whale and the captain – both crazy.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 D.H. Lawrence - Three Novellas: The Ladybird, The Fox, The Captain’s Doll
Ladybird is cute and fox is sly.

Examples include Travels with Charley: In Search of America, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Black Beauty, White Fang. Some members may like to read a short children’s book with a child or grandchild, perhaps The Velveteen Rabbit or one of the many stories by Beatrix Potter.
