ollie (ollieyv) I’m going to start reading Iron Widow and then Daughter of the Moon Goddess.

message 3: by Leya (new)

Leya | 1 comments I just finished The Crooked Kingdom and will now start A Court of Thorns and Roses :)

Bill | 465 comments I recently read Lawn Boy by Jonathan Evison after seeing it listed in the Advocate's 18 LGBTQ themed books being banned in schools in 2022. I strongly recommend it.

I'm now on to some historical fiction: Shadows of the Pomegranate Tree: A Novel by Tariq Ali

message 5: by Chris (new)

Chris Darling | 1 comments Currently finishing up the audiobook of Call Me By Your Name, by André Aciman, and read by Armie Hammer. I also recently picked up both kindle editions of Filthy Animals, by Brandon Taylor, and First Thrills, Volume 1, a collection of short stories edited by Lee Child from my local library.

message 6: by Tim (new)

Tim | 152 comments Reading Queer Country by Shana Goldin-Perschbacher which is more academic and less light-hearted fun than I'd hoped but still good. I have Remember: The Science of Memory and the Art of Forgetting by Lisa Genova going in audiobook format.

message 7: by Bill (new)

Bill | 465 comments I'm reading Vanilla Clouds by Roe Horvat, a novella about a guy who loves sex, and chocolate. Me too!

message 8: by Eugene (new)

Eugene Galt (eugenegalt) | 286 comments I just finished Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters for a book club. I'm still digesting it, but I think the haters have some solid points.

message 9: by Bill (new)

Bill | 465 comments I'm reading Alec by William Di Canzio; billed as a continuation of Maurice by E.M. Forster

message 10: by Greg (new)

Greg Mack wrote: "I’m listening They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera. A very interesting concept. Only on chapter 18 right now but so far, I really enjoy characters and where it’s headed"

I read that one a few years ago - it was an engaging read!

message 11: by Danis (new)

Danis ❤️ MM (danisvendetta) | 8 comments I might finish up the Soulbound series by Hailey Turner. I'm on book 4 (I think there's 7 total). It's hard to write scifi/fantasy/horror and it not to come out in a convoluted mess. Hailey is great at that.

message 12: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Holme (natashaholme) | 465 comments Last Seen Alive by Claire Douglas.

message 14: by Mona (new)

Mona | 2 comments Currently reading Secrets of Six-Figure Women by Barbra Stanny and Tell me Everything by Erika Krouse per women's history month

message 15: by Bill (last edited Mar 15, 2022 12:04PM) (new)

Bill | 465 comments I'm on to Blue-Skinned Gods by S.J. Sindu.

In India a boy is born with blue skin. He is thought to be a god by pilgrims, but ultimately he begins to question his divinity.

apolleo | 1 comments just finished “history is all you left me” it was so amazing, such a great bl book that isn’t super focused on romance too much. tw for death, abortion, and a small amount of biphobia.

message 19: by Tom (new)

Tom | 19 comments Just finished Vesper Flights by Helen Macdonald. Nature writing/observation at its best. I see that my recent reads (On The Ted Hill by Mike Parker) are focused on a sense of place. I live and grew up in small rural towns. And I have a running discussion/disagreement with a friend, who lives in a Chicago high rise, about where we can feel most at home. I hope everyone can find their place.

It sounds like you've found your place Tom, and that's a great thing!

I definitely think that sense of home/belonging is different for everyone, and no person is only one thing so it's not about only one aspect of the personality or only one issue.

Vesper Flights looks good Tom! I haven't read her before, but I definitely want to.

Have you read anything by Wendell Berry? I read a book of his poetry recently and loved it. He definitely has a rural slant and is a bit idiosyncratic but in a good way.

message 21: by Tom (new)

Tom | 19 comments Thanks for the recommendation Greg! I'm embarrassed: Mike Parker's book is On The Red Hill...not Ted Hill. I'm now reading Henry Scott Tuke, edited by Cicely Robinson. A British painter, (1858-1929). If Zuckerberg's metaverse becomes a reality during my lifetime, a 3D virtual visit to the world he captures in his painting is where I want to go.

message 23: by Erica (new)

Erica | 2 comments I just started reading Dominance of the Heart by Char Dafoe
