“As a culture we don’t have sufficient provisions for helping women and families escape poverty. In fact, we often create artificial and unnecessary barriers.” (Hunger)“This is not to say that black women are better prepared or better versed in politics, in fact what is most common is that the poorest people are best versed in what it takes to survive.” (Race Poverty and Politics)
“It’s not a question of helicopter parenting or bulldozer parenting. It’s survival parenting.” (Parenting While Marginalized)
“You should ask yourself, ‘Why are they loud? Why are they angry? Where is their safe space? How has feminism empowered them or their communities? Has it helped those girls at all?’ Because ultimately the ways we are failing young women of color come back to haunt their futures and ours.” (Education)
One idea that resonates deeply with me is:"Business improves our Standard of Living, while Yoga elevates our Standard of Life."
This thought sits at the heart of Business Yoga. Much of modern business focuses on comfort, convenience, growth, and material success all of which are important. Yet, if these are not accompanied by purpose, peace, meaningful relationships, and inner fulfillment, success can still feel incomplete.
Over the years, I have come to believe that true progress lies in nurturing both. Business and Yoga are not opposites; they complement each other. One helps us create value in the world, while the other helps us create value within ourselves.
