Dean K In the fantasy novel The Unwanteds by Lisa McMann the main character Alex is sent to his death for drawing in the mud in his home village Quill. But when he gets saved and taken to a secret, magical place called Artime, his whole life changes. The author uses various styles in this book. For example they used a lot of details to really convey to the reader in certain situations. Another style that the others used quite a bit was quick and intense, this style was used mostly when there was a battle scene going on or something exciting going on. One last style that the other often used was emotion. I recommend this book to people who love fantasy type books or who are into magic and spells because one, this is a fantasy novel and two it has magic, strange creatures, and menacing villains. I give this book ⅘ because this book was a amazing and had almost everything that a perfect book could have, adventure, creativity, intensity, and I couldn’t put it down but then got a little repetitive in later books.
