Speaking of Mary Lou…she and her sister Janine frequented the LadyBug club looking to hook up permanently with Navy SEALs. They’re not alone in this so what’s the deal? Why are women targeting these men? Did Mary Lou deliberately try to get pregnant?

Safety, security, prestige, I really have no idea why, but the men are sure targets. I do believe Mary Lou deliberately tried to get pregnant.

She deliberately got pregnant. I wonder if she did something to the condoms. If so, I hope it comes out at some point.

There is a status to being a SEAL's wife, especially if you live in a military community. Unfortunately, many women who work so hard to get their SEAL don't realize what their life will be, and the marriage fails.

I don’t remember if it’s true or not but I do believe Mary Lou orchestrated this pregnancy.

I agree that these women don’t think beyond the so-called “status” of being the wife of a SEAL. It requires significant sacrifice and lots of time alone with many broken plans. When these men go away, they can’t even tell their spouse where they’re being assigned. These kind of marriages fail because that “status” isn’t enough.

It comes out in a later book exactly what happened. Yeah, I remember this series very well.

I agree with everyone about the prestige of marrying a SEAL. And I don't remember from reading these books before, if Mary Lou deliberately tried to get pregnant, but I feel like that is the case after Sam mentioned that he was very careful about protection.

It is not stated outright but it is implied. In the beginning, it s made clear that Mary Lou wants to marry a SEAL and that Sam is careful to use protection. She must have done something overt to get pregnant.
