WEEKLY CHECK-IN
March 26, 2022 -- Week 13

Alright, we're arriving at the end of another month and we're about 1/4 of the way through our 2022 challenge! Woot! Congrats everyone on such an amazing job so far.

Today, let's chat about prompt 13. (Again, you don't have to complete this challenge in any specific order. Feel free to bounce around between prompts randomly!)

The prompt "includes a club" is such a fun one because there are SO many different interpretations. We'd love to see what you came up with!

How did you choose to interpret this prompt?

(And just as a reminder, here's the link to the challenge guide if you're looking for ideas to interpret a prompt! https://www.the52book.club/the-52-boo...)

Anna (annafrommontana) | 417 comments I have decided to wait for this one. I am a part of a in-person book club so I thought I would use a book from that to fill this prompt, but so far the books have fit into other prompts. I figure I will wait until a book for the month that doesn't fit a prompt or is a prompt I have already filled comes along and use that book for this prompt.

I used The Neil Gaiman Library Volume 2 by Neil Gaiman because one of the short stories is set in The Diogenes Club.

Beth | 211 comments Hmm... I'm not yet sure, but there are a few on my TBR that fit.
One that I've already read, but will probably use elsewhere is The Alexandria Link. There are several characters that belong to a group called the Order of the Golden Fleece. Kinda like a club...

Kim Hampton | 266 comments I haven't assigned specific books to specific prompts yet, but I've been keeping a list of which books I read fit which prompts, and four that I've read have fit this so far. One had a book club (Once in a Blue Moon), two had a "club" called the Pinky Promise Sisterhood where the women met at least once a month and were always there for each other when they were needed(Promise Me Always and Along Came a Cowboy), and one was a Harry Potter that had the Defense Against the Dark Arts club that he formed to teach other students (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince).

message 6: by Michele (new)

Michele Olson | 533 comments I'm thinking Band of Sisters by Lauren Willig, because a woman gives a speech at Smith College Club, and a group of women from Smith volunteer in Europe during WWI, but it's not set in stone.

message 7: by GailW (new)

GailW (abbygg) I read The Man Who Died Twice, the second in a series called The Thursday Murder Club.

message 8: by Lin (new)

Lin (linnola) | 18 comments I have The Club requested from the library for this prompt.
I use the library for all my books and audiobooks. I love that you can request a new release book as soon as it's ordered and get on the hold list.

Such a great idea!

I used the goodread list provided. And I am really glad I did. This is such a great book, I would have never found it!

So far I am doing quite good at following the prompts in order! I am quite proud of myself!

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) | 57 comments My choice for this prompt was The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. I really enjoyed this book, it reminded me of an Agatha Christie Miss Marple books which have always been favorites of mine.

message 12: by Necmi (new)

Necmi Çoban | 104 comments I am planning to read Dokuzuncu Cemiyet (Ninth House) by Leigh Bardugo.

Justin's 52 Books | 20 comments I tackled some Hard Science Fiction: Schild's Ladder by Greg Egan. It was a lot better then I thought it was going to be as I am not much of a Hard SF reader.

Schild's Ladder by Greg Egan

Christina ❤️M❤️ (christir1159) | 76 comments I am planning to read Cards on the Table because it is on the list. I will decide if it actually fits the theme after I read it lol.

message 15: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Phillips (debbie_phillips) | 22 comments I am planning to read The Book Club (this has been on my TBR for a while. I have seen her books around and want to try her as an author... decided to start with this one as it fits this prompt) or The Christmas Cookie Club (I might do this one as I picked it up at a used book store quite a while back and have had it on my radar to read. I used to belong to a Mom's group and every year we would have a Christmas Cookie Exchange, so that is what drew me to this book when I saw it at the used book store.)

message 16: by Alicia (new)

Alicia P (alicia_pfromcanada) | 67 comments I actually haven't been able to read the novel yet but I am hoping to read Ninth House for this prompt. Instead, this week, I choose prompt 45- a book with illustrated people on the cover for the novel I happened one summer.

message 17: by Lisa Marie (new)

Lisa Marie Kemmerer (readingwithlisamarie) | 283 comments I looked for a book that had the word "CLUB" in the title or where a group of peope gathered for the same reason on a regular basis

I picked The High Tide Club by Mary Kay Andrews
