I’m not sure if anybody else is reading this now, but I loved the book. I enjoy science fiction that explores the possibilities of science and the universe. True, the characters aren’t well defined, and, as the author said somewhere, it’s almost a science paper turned wrapped in fiction. I suppose my favorite aspect of the novel was the time scale between humans and aliens. In many, many ways it reminded me of Mission of Gravity by Hal Clement.

4.5 stars.

Clay (snoweel) | 3 comments I read this back in the 80's and enjoyed it. I thought it was fascinating to imagine biology that worked in such a different environment and time scale.

I also read this back in the 80's and then again in the late 90's. It's a fantastic novel and the Cheela are a fascinating species. I no longer have a paper copy of this book although I had a paperback forever ....
