I don't know where everyone lives, but here in South Carolina there is a state bill being considered that, if passed, could make all abortion in SC illegal and classified as murder. It's called the Unborn Victims of Violence Act (H4046).
Maryland: in discussion to make abortion legal up to 28 days after birth and deaths within that time frame can't be investigated/parents can't be charged with neglect.
Wow. So on the one hand South Carolina is being based but Maryland is straightup legalising infanticide. Gross

I'm sad to say that Canada doesn't have any abortion laws whatsoever. Abortion is legal at all stages of pregnancy regardless of the reason, and is even publicly funded.

Kentucky lawmakers have overridden Governor Andy Beshear’s veto on a bill that enacts sweeping abortion regulations in the state. With the ruling, House Bill 3 goes into effect immediately. As a result, both of the state’s abortion facilities have announced that they are closing their doors immediately because they are unable to comply with the new regulations. Abortion providers have also already filed a lawsuit to stop the law.
The legislation means that the state now has a number of new abortion provisions, including:
- A restriction on abortions after 15 weeks
- An end to telemedicine abortions (abortion pill distribution without an in-person visit)
- A requirement that physicians who distribute the abortion pill must be specially certified
- The creation of a state-run “complaint portal” for people to report suspected violations
- Updated abortion reporting requirements
- Updated parental consent guidelines for minors who want an abortion
-Restrictions to ensure no taxpayer funding of abortion
-Guidelines for the dignified disposal of fetal remains
The legislation was passed by both the House and the Senate in late March but was subsequently vetoed by Gov. Beshear on April 8. However, because Republicans hold a supermajority in both the House and the Senate, they were able to overwhelmingly override Beshear’s ruling with a vote of 76 to 21 in the House and 31 to 6 in the Senate.

Yeah, there are groups and organizations pushing for Canada to make a law. There hasn't been a ton of progress, but hopefully the government will give in at least a bit soon.

The Vancouver Women’s Caucus organized a caravan to travel from Vancouver to Ottawa as a national feminist protest to liberalize the abortion law.
1982
Charter of Rights and Freedoms
In 1982, Canada enacted the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Any law found contravening those rights could be struck down as unconstitutional.
1988
R. v. Morgentaler
In 1988, the Supreme Court of Canada struck down Canada’s abortion law as unconstitutional. The law was found to violate Section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms because it infringed upon a woman’s right to “life, liberty and security of person.”
Chief Justice Brian Dickson wrote: “Forcing a woman, by threat of criminal sanction to carry a foetus to term unless she meets certain criteria unrelated to her own priorities and aspirations, is a profound interference with a woman’s body and thus a violation of her security of the person.”
Canada became one of a small number of countries without a law restricting abortion. Abortion was now treated like any other medical procedure and was governed by provincial/territorial and medical regulations.
1989
Tremblay v. Daigle
In 1989, the Supreme Court ruled that a father has no legal right to veto a woman's abortion decision. The ruling came after the boyfriend of Chantal Daigle obtained a court injunction preventing her from getting an abortion. By the time the case was settled, Daigle had secretly obtained an abortion in the U.S.
1990-1991
Bill C-43
The federal government, led by Progressive Conservative Brian Mulroney, introduced Bill C-43, which would sentence doctors to two years in jail for providing abortions where a woman's health was not at risk. The bill was passed by the House of Commons but died in the Senate after a tie vote. No new bill has been introduced.
1995
Rulings Force Provinces to Allow Private Abortion Clinics
In 1995, provincial and federal rulings forced Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to allow private abortion clinics. Despite that, access to abortions outside hospitals continued to be inconsistent across the country. Some provinces and territories decided to cover the cost of abortions provided in clinics outside hospitals. Others didn't, meaning that women who couldn't get into a hospital for an abortion had to pay the costs of a clinic abortion out of their own pockets.
2006 - 2015
Continued Attempts to Pass Anti-Choice Legislation
During this period there were several private members’ bills introduced in the House of Commons such as the Unborn Victims of Crime Act and The Protection of Pregnant Women and their Preborn Children Act. While the names of these bills appear to be benign or for the protection of women, any legal analysis we have seen, have argued that they are back door attempts to re-open the abortion debate.
2014
New Brunswick released changes regarding abortion
Since abortion was decriminalized in 1988, New Brunswick had the strictest regulations relating to abortion access. In 2014 New Brunswick released changes to Regulation 84-20, which removed the requirement that “an abortion must be performed by a specialist in the field of obstetrics and gynecology” and that “two medical practitioners certify in writing that the abortion is medically required”. The new regulation stated, “an abortion will be covered if it is performed in a hospital facility approved by the jurisdiction in which the hospital facility is located”.
2015
Medical abortion with mifepristone
Mifepristone, one of the medications used for medication abortion, is approved by Health Canada. The product will be sold in Canada as Mifegymiso®.
2016
Expanded and safer access to abortion
The Government of PEI announces a Women’s Wellness Centre will be established at Prince County Hospital, Summerside and will include both surgical and medical abortions. It becomes operational in early 2017.
Newfoundland and Labrador’s Access to Abortion Services Act passed. This act requires protesters to maintain a legally defined distance from abortion clinics.
The National Assembly of Québec passed Bill 92. This is a larger bill and sections 75,76 and 79 are related to the “bubble” or access zone. A portion of the act requires protesters to maintain a legally defined distance from abortion clinics.
2017
Mifegymiso®
Mifegymiso® becomes available in Canada.
Provincial governments start to cover the cost of Mifegymiso® for people covered under their respective provinces’ health insurance plans.
2018
More expanded access
The Safe Access to Abortion Services Act comes into effect in Ontario that allows for safe access zones to be established around facilities that offer abortion services as well as the homes and offices of regulated abortion providers.
The Protecting Choice for Women accessing Health Care Act comes into effect in Alberta, which requires protesters to maintain a legally defined distance from abortion clinics.
All provinces, territories and federal health programs cover the cost of Mifegymiso® for people covered under their respective health insurance plans.
2020
The Protecting Access to Reproductive Health Care Act
The Protecting Access to Reproductive Health Care Act comes into effect in Nova Scotia, which prohibits protest activity within a defined distance from health care centres, pharmacies and doctors’ offices providing abortion care.

Before 1971, abortion was criminalized under Section 312 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860,[5] describing it as intentionally "causing miscarriage".[6] Except in cases where abortion was carried out to save the life of the woman, it was a punishable offense and criminalized women/providers, with whoever voluntarily caused a woman with child to miscarry[7] facing three years in prison and/or a fine, and the woman availing of the service facing seven years in prison and/or a fine.
It was in the 1960s, when abortion was legal in 15 countries, that deliberation on a legal framework for induced abortion in India was initiated. The alarmingly increased number of abortions taking place put the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on alert.[8] To address this, the government of India instated a committee in 1964 led by Shantilal Shah[8] to come up with suggestions to draft the abortion law for India. The recommendations of this committee were accepted in 1970 and introduced[8] in the Parliament as the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Bill. This bill was passed in August 1971 as the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, which was authored by Sripati Chandrasekhar.[9][10]

The Committee carried out a comprehensive review of the socio-cultural, legal and medical aspects of abortion.
The Committee in 1966 recommended legalizing abortion in its report to prevent wastage of women's health and lives on both compassionate and medical grounds.
According to the report, in a population of 500 million, the number of abortions per year will be 6.5 million–2.6 million natural and 3.9 million induced.

Thanks lilyy. Its from my saved articles from my laptop. I did some research on this. When you look into that staggering 15 million abortions in a year in India , thats almost 30 % of total abortions done annually in the entire world . Its terrible . Also christians are less than 3% of the population and pro life movements doesn't get much attention from law makers as well.😳😳☹️☹️☹️

Even one abortion is too many. Do you know what the root of the problem could be? I know in America, there are thousands of pregnancy resource centers that help women in need so that they don't have to abort unplanned pregnancies. It's inevitable that some states will remove abortion and save lives and others will enshrine abortion and continue to destroy lives. I think the biggest problem is actually the abortion pill, which I could swear the FDA authorized for online distribution as a response to the Mississippi case that could potentially overturn Roe.

Hello everyone,This is a little late, but if you haven't heard yet, a Supreme Court draft document for Dobbs v. Jackson was leaked by Politico showing that the Court plans to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision that made abortion legal all across the United States in 1973.

This is the best decision pro-lifers could've hoped for. The other two possibilities were for the High Court to not overturn Roe but remove the viability rule as the line for when abortion can be banned or for the High Court to uphold Roe and not permit states to ban abortion pre-viability.

American pro-lifers have been fighting for this for nigh on half a century now. This is what we've been waiting for for the past 50 years. However! There are definitely some concerns. Please keep reading.
1. The document is only a draft. This means that we don't actually have any guarantee of Roe being overturned yet.
2. Whoever leaked the draft is thought to be on the liberal side of this issue. Their goal is to get one of the Justices who currently support the draft to back off and change their mind.
3. Chief Justice Roberts is currently not supporting the draft. He did blast the leak, but this basically means that only one Justice needs to change his/her mind for Roe to not be overturned.
4. Furthermore, now that the draft has leaked, if just one of the Justices are incapacitated, Ketanji Brown Jackson would step right in. This would also meant that Roe wouldn't be overturned.

Hey everyone! I don’t think anyone has mentioned this yet so thought I would:On August 2nd, Kansans will have the opportunity to vote for the Value Them Both Amendment. While this would not ban abortion, or even go to the extent that other laws- such as those passed in Oklahoma and Texas- have, it would enforce basic restrictions on the abortion industry, which is a step in the right direction.

In the Netherlands, they recently decided a woman doesn't have to wait 5 days anymore before undergoing an abortion, but she does have to get a scan so that's something i guess
