Collegedale Public Library discussion

For April, we will be reading a multigenerational book. I am adding a list for anyone that is interested.

I will be reading Red at the Bone by Jacqueline Woodson. It is a book that I bought a couple of years ago and haven't read yet. I love it when the monthly category hits your TBR!

I was thinking of The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan or The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri

I'm going to read Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe. it's a nonfiction about three generations of a family involved in the drug market.

I have read both of those and they are both really good. Jhumpa Lahiri is one of my favorite authors.

I read Sabrina & Corina: Stories; a collection of short stories about families, specifically the women in those families, and the legacies they are handed by those who came before.

Love the idea of short stories about families!

I changed mine to a new release multi-generational book that I have already read this month. The Wedding Veil by Kristy Woodson Harvey. It is about several generations of women that wear the same wedding veil. There is also a tie to the Vanderbilt family and the Biltmore Estate for those interested in that!

I added it to my TBR Kelly!

I am reading Kindred by Octavia E. Butler. It is science fiction but the main character keeps going back in time to her slave holding ancestor.

I chose the joy luck club as well.

I ended up with The Namesake. I started The Joy Luck Club book but wasn’t into it so I switched.

I have read that one. It is good!

I didn't manage to keep up with the timeline this year but I did finish Empire of Pain - it was excellent.
