I'm listening to the audio book and really enjoying it. As I was listening this morning I found myself thinking this would be such a great looking show if the right streaming service threw money at it. Between the novellas and the novel it would be easy to get a season or two and with the world building done there would be plenty of opportunities for.new stories.

I agree. A case of the week along with ongoing storylines about the characters personal lives and a larger season-long mystery.
The descriptions of the buildings and clothes (especially Fatma’s sharp suits) are gorgeous. I’d love to see this steampunk Cairo brought to life - with a soundtrack of Egyptian/New Orleans jazz.

It would have to be pretty expensive, I think, because some of the coolest parts of the whole experience are the layers of world-building. You take Cairo, add art deco era design, add some steampunk aesthetic, add djinn, add jazz, add automatons, add amazing costumes. That seems a lot more expensive than normal fantasy fare where you can borrow sets and costumes from anything set in the vague European past. But yeah, if someone could do it right the combination is amazing.

Maybe in a Bollywood studio. The volume they use for Mandalorian could save a lot of money, since the sets are largely virtual, rendered in the Unreal engine.

I would 100% watch it. (Just not Netflix, they have a long history of canceling shows before I can watch them.)
This is a great point, it does strike me as something that would make a very good TV show. Maybe a limited series type of thing would serve it well. The locations would be amazing!
It's a story that's very visual and action-oriented, and I can certainly see it being good material for adaptation.Although perhaps not the story of the novel; I'd rather see an episodic case of the week series than this very high stakes situation.

I reckon I would look pretty dapper in some of that ensamble!
Of course, she would despair of how ill fitting they all were and demand I see a tailor, but I wouldn't mind!
