I just read three books on Japan. One was a fairly old book on the war. "The Rising Sun." Very informative and largely discussed from the Japanese perspective. Another was "Pachinko," an epic story of Korean Christians in Osaka. Captivating for the first generation or two but it lost me. I also read Osaka!! Osaka! a non-fiction story of an ex-pat and his teenage son. This book was also very informative. full of historical information and humorous anecdotes about life in the city these days. I recommend all these books.
