wondering if this works for bk #2 -god thor - the t & h in the title word "tough" and the o & r in the title word "customer" :Tough Customer by Sandra Brown
Is it okay if the Author's Name for Option 1 is a pseudonym, but the real name doesn't have the right letters in it?
yay i actually found a bk for options 2 - and it helps me with my tackling to tbr (trying to cull down books loitering on my virtual to read pile)

Yes that is fine, enjoy
Andy
Trish wrote: "Is it okay if the Author's Name for Option 1 is a pseudonym, but the real name doesn't have the right letters in it?"Yes, you may choose a book by an author using a pseudonym but in that case, the initials of the author's pseudonym must appear in Ragnarok
Bea wrote: "Andy, I think your COLD in JULY explanation is messed up."I think it works O and D from cold and IN from the word IN spells ODIN in order
Dee wrote: "yay i actually found a bk for options 2 - and it helps me with my tackling to tbr (trying to cull down books loitering on my virtual to read pile)"Glad to be of help. I too am happy when I can read something I really want to read and work on a task at the same time.
For book 2, do we have to use the first of each instance of the letter? The Frog Prince spells Thor (TH in the; O in frog; R in Prince). But there is a pesky R in frog too! Can I ignore it, as I can otherwise spell out the name?

The Thor part is fine, as long as you can spell the name it works, but since it has not genres listed I'm concerned about the children's or kids genre showing up and since it appears it is an ebook only, you would need to get it approved for length. Best check with one of the moderators about these concerns.

Are graphic novels ok? I was thinking of reading another Sandman volume by Neil Gaiman for option 1.
Andy wrote: "The Thor part is fine, as long as you can spell the name it works..."Thanks. It is only an in principle query at the moment, but I note your comments :)
Nicole wrote: "Are graphic novels ok? I was thinking of reading another Sandman volume by Neil Gaiman for option 1."no graphic novels are allowed unless specified and I didn't specify that they were. I think you still have a fair amount of latitude in what you can choose.
Sorry,
Andy
No big deal. I was merely clarifying. I don't stress this! It's for fun, I have too much else going on in my life to finish the whole thing, so if I can't find a book I really want I opt out of those tasks. Great task with plenty of latitude! :)

Yes those both look good to go Enjoy.
Wanda wrote: "Would The Doll: The Lost Short Stories be acceptable for THOR for Book #2?"That is tricky since the original title is The Doll and I assume the rest is the subtitle which is excluded in the task description. Check with the moderators, if they think it is ok, I'll accept it otherwise no.

Having posed a challenge in Winter SRC that relied ONLY on the TITLE, I know that everything AFTER the colon is subtitle, so it doesn't count.

Thanks for your help.

Does Like This, For Ever work? There is a comma between the TH and O, but it is part of the title. Thanks.
Lauren wrote: "Does Like This, For Ever work? There is a comma between the TH and O, but it is part of the title. Thanks."Yes, this one works but be careful when you post to get an edition that uses this title, because this is one of those that has one name for the British title and another for the US one.
I am going to use I Always Loved You by Robin Oliveira for Opt 1 and The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle ZevinThor is the god's name
THe stORied life of a.j. fikry

Your choices both work, enjoy
Want to check and see if I've got this right:For book 2, The Book of Strange New Things - The Book of Strange New Things to spell Thor.
(Book 1 is easy-peasy for me - I have Neil Gaiman's Trigger Warning: Short Fictions and Disturbances :) )
Cindie wrote: "For book 1, can I read The Blood of Flowers by Anita Amirrezvani?"That looks fine. Happy Reading

They are both fine. Enjoy.
Laura,Both books are fine as far as my part is concerned. Just make sure the usual rules for SRC tasks are followed.

You just made me realize something I should have seen! I can move Trigger Warnings to this task and use Sandman volume for 10.10
THANKS!
Presumably it's okay to use a book with the God's name in tact for option two? I'm thinking of reading Loki by Mike Vaisch
Trish wrote: "Presumably it's okay to use a book with the God's name in tact for option two? I'm thinking of reading Loki by Mike Vaisch"Yes that's fine
Diane Whitney wrote: "For book 2, I'm planning to use The 25th Hour. Spelling out THOR. I'm seeking approval because there are numbers in the title. Even with numbers spelled out - twenty fifth, it stil..."That is fine. Enjoy the book.

Ragnarok is a series of future events, including a great battle which ultimately results in the death of a number of major gods.
This is a two book task
Note: Books with the genre children's or kids may NOT be used for this task.
Book 1. Read a book by an author whose initials can be found in the word RAGNAROK. The book must be written by a single author, no co-authors or books with multiple contributors. All author name initials must be found, including middle names or initials. Please notice the letter R and A are the only ones that can be used twice.
Book 2. Using ALL the letters in ONE of the following gods' names read a book whose TITLE (excluding subtitle) includes the name's letters IN ORDER. The letters do not need to be consecutive, but must appear in the title in order from left to right.
Thor
Odin
Freyr
Loki
Tyr
Thus: The Other Typist works because the th from The and or from other spell Thor and appear in the title from left to right: THe OtheR typist
Cold in July works with OD in cold and IN spell Odin: cOlD IN july
Look Again works with Lok in look and I in Again spell Loki: LOoK agaIn
Required: State the god's name.
