Chima tells the story of Jack, a destined wizard that had a warrior stone implanted into his heart–finding out he even had powers when he stopped taking his mandatory heart medicine making his latent powers noticeable. While reading this book I felt it was a little lackluster. I enjoyed the concept of the book. As someone who watches a lot of anime, I can see the resemblance of that in the book but I notice the same lack of character development in some animes and this book. Jack was the only character I could somewhat feel a connection with. The lack of seeing this connection with the other characters in the book didnt help either. The side characters were very underdeveloped as well as the places mentioned too. For example, there is a girl Jack has to fight in the book but the connection between the two is vague which results in the reader not being able to fully connect with them. I would recommend this book if you are a fan of these types of stories and not if you like being able to connect with the characters. Therefore, I would only give this book a try if you are very into that fantasy book feel.
