Courtney | 347 comments I have been trying to read this book since I first got into the Romance Reading game, but I could never motivate myself to get past the first chapter.

Then the cover went from this Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers, #1) by Sarah MacLean to this Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love by Numbers, #1) by Sarah MacLean and suddenly I BLASTED through the book in a few days and LOVED IT! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It's amazing what a cover upgrade can do to one's psyche.

I loved that book! Can't say that I ever paid attention to the cover of it or any of the books I've read. Now I'm doing a challenge that has to do with bookcovers. I've learned that most of the books I read have the same boring covers. Historical = woman in a pretty dress. Romantic Suspense = couple running through the night as if someone is chasing them. Romantic comedy = cartoon cover. Psychological thriller = Title and author take up most of the cover with maybe a face in the background. Women's Historical Fiction = Women in period dress with their backs to the reader.

I wish the publishers would freshen up the covers more often.
