Caitlyn O'Connor is one of the most quiet people you'll meet. It's not like she hates conversation, she's just not good at it. It's difficult to be loud at all, her tone of voice usually at a whisper when she's around others. Caitlyn is shy and introverted, keeping mostly to herself and not speaking out. Public speaking isn't one of Catie's favorite things to do, let alone having to order her own food at a restaurant. Although Catie doesn't talk much, she is a very sweet young lady, delicate and sensitive to everyone's feelings. She will always try to cheer her friends or family up, or smile at someone if she feels like they could be having a hard day. Schoolwork is a breeze for Caitlyn, and she feels like she is beginning to overcome her soft spoken personality. She is always ready to help others out, tending to do extra credit or work that isn't needed for her family or neighbors. Overall, Caitlyn is liked by all because of her sweet disposition and the fact that she isn't loud, obnoxious, or rude.
{History}
Caitlyn Sophia O'Connor was born August 11, on a beautiful Saturday morning. Her first few days were spent in Greenbriar, Colorado, at the city's only hospital. She had come out almost two months early, weighing in only at 4.3 pounds. The doctors had kept her in the hospital to ensure that she would survive on her own, with that fragile slightly underdeveloped heart of hers. A few days later, Ophelia and Jason O'Connor brought home a healthy baby girl, raising the child to the best of their ability. The young couple did a great job raising their daughter, giving her enough love and attention. Her mutations weren't noticed until the second week after her being born, when an unhappy Caitlyn threw a fit. Her crib had grown all sorts of vines around it as she cried, and her parents were completely shocked. The couple kept Catie's abilities a secret, terrified what would happen if anyone found out that their newborn child was a mutant. They had heard stories of what was done to mutants kidnapped off the sides of streets or from their own houses at night, and did everything they could to protect young Catie.
Caitlyn was homeschooled as a child all throughout her preteens, with limited relationship with friends of any kind. She became friends with another mutant girl, who was a year older than her, and was the daughter of one of her mother's closest girlfriends. The unexpected coincidence worked out well, providing the two little girls friendship as they grew up in the little town of Greenbriar, their little secret of being mutant kept hidden deep within. Catie seldom used her powers in public, and if she did, it was for good. Only once before had she used her plant mutating abilities for bad works, which in her opinion, was worth it.
The O'Connors were a very tight knit family, with an equal relationship between the three and their Australian shepherd. They lived in a decent sized house built ten years before they moved in, a small forest and field behind their house. The family was well off, and got along well with other towns folk.
Caitlyn's mother was a wonderful singer, and taught her daughter simple songs as she grew up. When her powers sometimes acted up, all Catie had to do was sing the songs, and shed be able to calm down almost instantaneously. When she is alone, Catie sings to her heart's content, obsessed over Disney songs, and grew a new patch of the garden in the backyard. Her and her mutant best friend did everything together- got their ears pierced together, went on road trips together, even went grocery shopping. They were practically sisters. One day, her best friend just disappeared. No one supposedly knew where the little girl had disappeared to, but Catie had overheard her mother on the phone tearfully speaking to her best friend's mother, and all she had to hear was the word "taken." Her best friend was gone. Forever.
The loss of her almost-sister devastated the ten year old mutant, and she had basically shut down completely in her room. Instead if those beautiful roses and daisies, thorns and snarling vines decorated her room. Catie was just so upset and disturbed about the whole deal, about the idea that she would never see the only other mutant she knew again. Never had Caitlyn felt more alone. Almost a year later, things were looking up. Her mother had become pregnant, with her new baby sister nine months later named Annalie Faith O'Connor. The newborn turned Catie's life around, and pansies grew again, daisies and morning glories adorned the house. Caitlyn protected her human sister with all her power, not even letting her family members touch the baby much to the amusement of her parents. Annalie became the focus of Catie's life, and the mutant played with her little sister and changed her diaper, dressed her. The two had become best friends, and Caitlyn could put the past behind her.
Her teenage years as well had been homeschool, with three other kids her age. The four became a happy group of kids, and built a strong relationship through those stupid written exams and all the little online classes they were forced to take in homeschool. Her life was looking up, but Catie couldn't bear having to hide who she was from the world. She couldn't tell a single soul, not even her own little sister Annalie, due to the fear that someone would overhear and Catie would be taken as well. All she ever wanted was to belong, to not have to hide anymore. And then her parents broke it to her. She was leaving, going to to new school, where kids were like her.

Personality
Alex is very analytical and loves to study the ways others react. She is also pretty sarcastic and outgoing, but can seem pretty frosty when you first meet her (I had to lol).
She enjoys spending time to herself and dislikes the idea of being near others for too long, because of her abnormalities.
Her powers are widely based off of her emotions and how she reacts to situations, so she often has to keep them in check. Meditation is a daily thing for Alexandra, and he tries to remain calm in all situations. But if you dare harm someone she cares for, prepare to be frozen out, most literally.
Alexandra has a passion for reading and learning, and is quite studious. While she enjoys spending casual time with her friends, school work will often come first in her mind.
Alex is far from shy, and is not afraid of confrontation. She will always stand up for those in need as it is in her nature to take care of those who need protection. She is not afraid to tell her opinion either, so if you ask her a question, expect an honest answer.

History
Alex was born to an average family. She studied hard, kept up with her school work, and nothing was incredibly interesting. They moved to New York when she was 12. The transistion was rough, but their family survived.
At the age of 14, her powers began to develop. She was very confused by them, and took it upon herself to study their strength and conditions.
She didn't want her family to find out, but inevitably, they did.It was because of a fight, truthfully. Her mother got mad over the littlest of things, and Alexandra lashed out for once, and ice began to form all over the floor, running through the cracks in the wood, climbing the walls like vines.
Her parents were shocked. Neither of them had powers, and they did not expect their perfect daughter to have them either. Terrified, the Monroe's refused to let Alexandra leave the house, teaching her that her powers were wrong, bad. They told everyone she was being 'homeschooled,' but any education they provided was rather lacking.
Yet, someone, somehow, found out about her.
Alexandra received a letter from Lewis institute later that year. Her parents didn't want her to go, but she made a pretty, er, compelling argument, involving the entire house being coated in ice.
Lewis Institute became her new home. A place where she actually appeared normal, and could go about her studies with her usual pleasure that came with new knowledge. She goes home as little as possible. This is her third year at Lewis, and she is in 11th grade. While she feels so much more at home, a part of her still questions her humanity, her normality, and is worried there is no true place for her in this world.

History- Ylvie is originally from Switzerland. She lived in the hillside town of Trögen, 3 hours out of Zürich. Her family lived in a traditional old home when she found that she could pick things up without even touching them. Her mother first noticed her strange ability when she was 13. As the small town around them began to notice her abilities, she was quickly condemned and marginalized. Her mother researched her abilities and found that there were others out there just like her, so she quickly packed up the family in order for her to attend the Lewis institute - despite her generally terrible English.

History- Arelli was orphaned when she was little and doesn't really know anything about her parents. She has wondered about them and tried to find out more information over the years to no success. Her powers developed a few years later and caused her to bounce around different homes for most of her childhood. She taught herself to control her abilities over the years. Aside from multiple homes she has lived in, she has also gone to multiple boarding schools around the country. She never really felt like she had fit in wherever she went and never really stayed in one place long enough to form any lasting relationships. When she understood just who, and what, she tried to keep a low profile but failed miserably. The resulting debacle caused her to be kicked out of yet another school but she was soon contacted by the Lewis Institute and jumped at the opportunity.

She's generally good-natured and kind, and tries to be a good friend for people, and as a result, she has a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. History-
Bethany was the first child of Melissa and John Elliot, and the two couldn't have been more pleased to have Bethany. She was their bouncing bundle of joy, and they welcomed her into the family. Her younger sister Molly was born about a year and a half after Bethany, and with her, the Elliots felt they had a perfect little family.
Even at a young age, there were odd things about Bethany, though it took her parents awhile to catch on. When the happy toddler laugh, the shadows at the edge of the room seemed to sway, and when she cried it was as through the lights dimmed and the shadows took on a more menacing look. Even when Melissa and John noticed these strange occurrences, they ignored them. Maybe it was willful ignorance, maybe it was wishful thinking. But they just couldn't entertain the thought that their perfect, giggly daughter might be a mutant.
The Elliots were forced to face the reality when Bethany was six. They heard giggling and whispers coming from Bethany's bedroom, and saw Bethany and Molly sitting on the floor, staring at the wall where shadows were dancing along like a play, with the two girls voicing different characters.
That night, Melissa and John Elliot had a long talk, trying to decide what to do. They loved their daughter, mutant or not, so they didn't even consider the idea of abandoning her. But other people weren't as tolerant of mutants, even ones who were only young children, like Bethany. Would she be safe with them? Eventually they felt there was no other option. So they did their best to explain to their daughter that unfortunately the world didn't understand her ability, and that she had to be careful and hide her power.
As Bethany grew, she tried to be as normal as she could. She went to school, hung out with friends, got good grades, and played on the soccer team. She learned to pretend that she wasn't a mutant, and that worked, for awhile. She didn't like hiding, but she knew it was necessary.
The necessity unfortunately hit home for her after it was too late. When she was fifteen, she confided in her best friend that she was a mutant. They'd known each other since first grade, so Bethany was sure it would okay. She was sure her friend would understand and be sympathetic. And at first, her friend was. But the next morning, her friend's parents called the Elliot home, shouting that they didn't want Bethany around their daughter again, and that they were going to make sure everyone knew that Bethany was dangerous. That week, they got threatening phone call after phone call, and over night someone spraypainted 'mutant' in giant letters on their garage door. The final straw was when someone threw a brick through their window at while the family was eating dinner. Bethany's parents were at their wits end, and finally decided that she wasn't safe at home anymore. They considered sending her to live with some family in a different state, but that would only prolong an incident like this. So with heavy hearts they settled on sending her to the Lewis Institute.

Skyler likes to keep to herself mainly. There used to be someone, her best friend, that she confided in- but then the accident happened. Since then the only person Sky has ever told anything to was her brother Simon. In any social situation you will find her on the outside looking quite uncomfortable, and trying to keep in the shadows. She especially hates noisy places, even before she had her telepathy power. Something about everyone talking at once, causing no ones ideas to get across bothers her. Even more so now, she can keep up with multiple conversations because she hears what they are saying and what they are thinking while the other person is talking. So, instead Skyler reads, listens to music, and creates art. Doing these things calm her down and take her mind off the things at hand

If you were to ask Skyler a question, she would give you an honest answer. She firmly believes that it is unfair to lie to you because if she were to ask you a question she would find out the truth whether you told her verbally or just thought it in your head. So, why keep secrets from others if their secrets arn't safe?

Skyler will spend whole days painting, sculpting, or sketching. She finds all of these activities very soothing, and they allow her to think. Many problems and dilemmas have been worked out for Sky while on the pottery wheel or sitting at a canvas.

Skyler knows when to keep her mouth shut (which is most of the time) and when to speak. If someone is doing something morally wrong, or just plain idiotic, she will speak up and tell you so. Her discernment skills of very high, for she spends most of her time observing and listening to other people. She loves to learn new ways to do things, and new theories and concepts. She pours over books trying to retain as much information as she can, "you'll never know what you don't know." she always says to those who question her methods.

[Hɪsᴛᴏʀʏ] Skyler has had only one best friend in her life, Margret Jefferies. Margret and Skyler did absolutely everything together, but one night that changed. When they were about 12 Skyler was over at Margret's house for the night. Everything was going fine until later, around midnight two men broke into the house. They killed Margret and maimed her parents. Thankfully, Skyler had been in living room and had enough time to slip under the couch to hide. Once the men left she edged out from her hiding place to find what was left of Margret laying on the floor bleeding out. There was nothing Skyler could do for her friend except cry and call the police. Skyler fell into a deep depression that no one, not even Simon could help her out of. He, of course tried his best, but Skyler had seemed to of forgotten how to smile. Her parents signed her up for a councilor session, but Skyler refused to talk. If she told anyone what happened that night she would cry all over again. The only solace she found was in music and art. She often skipped school and remained at home, painting and sculpting. Once every art piece was finished Skyler would either destroy it or throw it away. After a month of this habit her brother found a stash of her destroyed art and convinced her to give her art to him instead of wrecking them. She reluctantly agreed. This one act of her brothers helped her begin the climb out of the hole she had dug herself. He had showed her that she and what she did mattered. She could either spend her time destroying any happiness she felt, or she could hold onto it. Each passing day Sky confided more into her brother, and once or twice she even smiled. Eventually she moved past the traumatizing event that haunted her daydreams and nightmares.
Skyler and Simon's parents loved them both very much, and did anything they could to help them. Sure, sometimes they were distant and absorbed in their work, but for the most part they imparted love and wisdom into Simon and Skyler. One day their affection stopped, for they learned that their children developed powers. At the first sign of their children being different, they disowned their children for they could not risk their reputation being tarnished. Any love shown their parents had shown them before was tossed aside and replaced with disdain. To this day it still surprises Sky how quickly they turned from good to evil, and to this day she curses their names.
Simon was the only person who was continually there for Sky, and she will never forget that. While they fended for themselves on the streets, he still watched over her. In a way Skyler is thankful that their parents threw them out, because if they hadn't she would never of been this close to her brother.

Juliet can fly, though heights frighten her, and she prefers to stay on the ground. She can levitate things up to 5 times her physical strength, so the stronger she becomes physically, the more she can levitate. She has quite the problem keeping it under control though. Her power has always scared her and she's searched her whole life for a way to get rid of it. She hates feeling scared and being feared. But maybe she just needs someone to help her embrace it.

Personality- Juliet is very strong. No one quite realizes her strength, and not even she knows it's full extent. She's endured a lot and it has allowed her courage to develop where she fears almost nothing. Very alone, she thinks she likes solitude, but she wishes to laugh, for sunshine, for friendship. She is quite and very determined. In a weird sort of way she loves to be criticized because it means she can learn and better herself. Most of her life the criticism has been harsh and demanding, but still it's what she's used to. She actually a very kind person, though she's never had cause to be kind. Where she comes from it was kill or be killed, and her only friend was a traitor. She's a big fan of music and admires all things beautiful.

History- Juliet was born to Mark and Julie Giller. They were devastated to learn their daughter died a few hours after she was born. However, they were told this because a few minutes after being born, Juliet began to levitate things with her mind. Having this supernatural ability. It so happened that the leading physician on Juliet's case was in league with an organization to find mutants, study them, and extract their abilities. The doctor got a huge reward for turning over the baby to this organization. Juliet was raised here, where she was experimented on, shown little affection, and tortured all in an attempt to study what made her special. She was however trained to be unseen, hidden, and agile to escape predators. She wasn't the only mutant there, but was one of 43 others. The years of exposure to abuse led most of them to become cruel to Juliet, however she had one friend named Lily who had skin, muscles, bones, and veins that stretched like rubber. Lily, told Juliet that she was leaving, and escaped the facility. The students were told that she had killed several of the guards, ruined ongoing experiments, and stole valuables from the facility causing them to be more financially unstable. So the children's provisions became more scarce. Juliet was led to believe her friend was a murderer and she was left alone. However, this proved it was possible to escape the hidden facility. She unlocked her powers for one night and used them to gain her freedom. When she did escape, she swore to never use them again. That was one year ago. She's been on the run ever since, and has used her camouflage skills to remain hidden, until she heard whispers of a certain school... She's made her way to the Lewis Institute in order to better understand herself, and feel acceptance. Plus it sounded like a good place to hide from her previous life.
