Shadowpaw slept in her nest in the apprentice den. She was dreaming and her tail was flicking in her sleep. Unknown to her the sun had started to come up and she was going to be late for training

message 3: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
A beam of sunlight hit Shadowpaw in the eyes and she swatted at it annoyed to be awake. When it didn't go away she got up and stretched. Training! She realized she was late and hurriedly smoothed her fur down before bounding out to see her mentor Duskstrike ready waiting for her

message 4: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
"Sorry" Shadowpaw said. "I'll wake up early tomorrow" she sat down next to him and took a bite of the pheasant

message 5: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw got up excitedly, "I'm ready now!"

message 6: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw nodded, "I'll beat you!"

message 7: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw took off running, as fast as her little legs would take her

message 8: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw screeched to a halt next to him. Her breaths coming a bit faster than normal, "I think you cheated somehow. I should've won" she told him, mostly joking

message 9: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw looked across the border as her mentor explained what it meant, inhaling BlazeClan's scent and committing it to her memory. Her mother had told her about them of course, but she had never known what they smelled like. It was a strange scent that she promised never to forget.
She followed Duskstrike away from the border and watched as he climbed the rock, she sat at the base of it and curled her tail over her paws. Perfectly content where she was instead of climbing."Why can't I come on patrol with you tomorrow? she asked. The tip of her tail flicking in annoyance. "I'm not a kit anymore, I'm 8 moons old now!"

message 10: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw seemed content with this answer and she nodded before taking off in the direction of the camp. Not giving him a chance to even count before the race, hoping she would beat him this time

message 11: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw took the elders some mice and then picked out a large squirrel for her and her littermates.

message 12: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw dropped the squirrel at Lakepaw's feet and plopped down next to her. "Hey! How was your day?" she asked her sister

message 13: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
"We walked around the entire territory, and I beat Duskstrike in a race!" Shadowpaw told her excitedly.
--
Stormpaw padded over from the medicine den in time to hear about the race, he sat down next to them and purred in amusement, "Are you sure he didn't let you win?"

message 14: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
"Yes, I'm sure" Shadowpaw retorted, her tail flicking in annoyance.
--
Stormpaw chuckled at his sister before turning to Lakepaw, his eyes dancing with excitement. "I learned about this new patch of comfrey today. I'm gonna go tomorrow to get more for the stocks"

message 15: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Stormpaw shuffled his paws nervously, "I'd probably scare all the prey away" he mumbled.
--
Shadowpaw scoffed and headbutted him, rubbing against him in comfort. "Nonsense, you'd be great"

message 16: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
"Really? I mean I'd have to miss a day of medicine training. But it's been so long since we've done anything together!" Stormpaws tail was flicking with excitement

message 17: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Stormpaw nodded, "Ok, yeah! let's do it!"

message 18: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw nodded, "We could always go tonight" she suggested

message 19: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Stormpaw glanced around nervously, "What if someone catches us?" his tail was flicking slowly back and forth close to the ground as he fixed his eyes on Duskstrike across the clearing

message 20: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw nodded, "And then we'll go hunting. I hope we found a nice thrush"

message 21: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw nodded in agreement and rubbed against Stormpaw as she walked past him to the apprentices den.
---
Stormpaw nodded, "Yeah, ok" he meowed. Giving a nod to Lakepaw as he padded back towards the medicine den where his nest was

message 22: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
((Sure
Shadowpaw sat up in her nest as the sun went down, eyes dancing with excitement. "Lakepaw!" she whispered

message 23: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw nodded, getting up queitly from her nest. "Yeah, come on sleepyhead. Stormpaw's probably already waiting for us!"
----
Stormpaw crept out of the medicine den a few moments after he felt like everyone else in camp had to be asleep. He scanned the camp and didn't see any movement so he continued to the nursery and sat nervously waiting for his sisters to join him

message 24: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw and Stormpaw followed her out of camp. Shadowpaw scented the air, she didn't scent anything interesting "Where should we take him?" she whispered to Lakepaw

message 25: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Shadowpaw nodded excitedly. "Come on!" she told them both as she led the way to the tree.
---
Stormpaw followed his sisters, getting more excited by the minute about learning to hunt

message 26: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Stormpaw shifted nervously, "You should probably go first" he told her

message 27: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
((Ahhh your right, I don't think I've made a forest topic yet.... well continue here until I can get to my laptop to make a new topic ))

Shadowpaw nodded to her sister in acknowledgement of her catch but she had her eyes fixed on a mouse at the base of the tree a few fox lengths away. she was surprised the voles hunt hadn't alerted it to their presence. She flicked Stormpaw on the shoulder with her tail, "Do you see the mouse?" she whispered
---
Stormpaw scanned the ground until he did and then he nodded. " what do I do?" he whispered back

message 28: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments Ratstar yawned, stretching his hind legs with a squeak. It was early, but he enjoyed the early morning. His long rat-like tail curling behind him and flicked out again, blue eyes scanning the clearing. Ratstar trotted over to the freshkill pile, prodding the small amount with a sigh. He turned and sat atop his rock waiting patiently for his clanmates to wake up.

Ratstar turned his head, grooming himself between the shoulder blades. His tortoiseshell fur glowed in the early dawn light. The long tom purred, closing his eyes and tilting his head to the rising sun. He looked at peace.

message 29: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments Without opening his eyes, Ratstar called out." Good morning, Duskstrike." His tail swished absentmindedly. "If you like, I could go on patrol with you, yes?" He purred, standing and jumping down to pad over to Duskstrike.

message 30: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments Ratstar lifted his head and sniffing the air breifly. "Yes, just an apprentice." He replied softly, starting towards the hole leading out. "I did have a good night, did you?" The tom asked, pausing to wait for Duskstrike to catch up. "Where should we hunt?"

message 31: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments Ratstar lowered himself slightly. "Sounds good. You can lead the hunt if you'd like." He spoke to Duskstrike with respect. His eyes flickered over the open moors, looking intently for any prey. There! Something small hopped along the grass, upwind. Ratstar skirted around his prey, watching it intently, even from several fox-lengths away. He crept closer, now downwind. With a moments grace, he leapt forward, his long body stretching to it's full length. The tom was naught but a blur, killing the rabbit swiftly before it even realized it was being hunted. Ratstar lifted his head above the grass proudly, the fat rodent swaying in his jowls. Then he buried it and went scenting for other prey.

His ears were perked, his mind alert. The faint smells of earth and prey filled his nose. Something called out from above him. Some kind of hawk circled around him, screeching loudly. Boom! It dove for Ratstar, and he yowled and jumped out of the way, turning and lashing out at it's wings. He pulled many a feather out, before he leapt onto it's back and snapped its neck. "Ha! Take that you bird!" Ratstar laughed gallantly, grabbing it by it's talons and dragging it to where he buried the rabbit. Then he sat, grooming himself.

message 32: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments Ratstar bounced after Duskstrike, purring with admiration. "Nice catch, Duckstrike." He praised, parting his lips to take in the scents around him. The slim tom noticed that his hunting partner signalled other prey. He dropped low and padded forward smoothly, trying to scent what it was. A low growl reverberated around him. Badgers. He thought gleefully, flicking his tail to try and hold Duskstrike where he was. There was a soft snuffling sound, and he prayed that it didn't smell him. The long grass parted as he stalked forward, and he spotted the large creature. It's forepaws stubby and short, its striped muzzle shoved into the dirt. Ratstar pulled his lips back in a savage grin, and with one swift move he leapt atop the beast. He yowled, clawing it across the nose and eyes. It screeched, thrashing around in an attempt to grab the lithe tom. It got a hold of his back leg and threw him off, growling.

"Duskstrike!" He shouted, bunching his legs to attack again. The badger swept clumsily at him, yammering angrily. Ratstar leapt nimble over the badger, once again on its back. He bit into its neck, pulling out clumps of fur. It squealed in pain, starting to run. Ratstar laughed with delight, his claws raking over the now exposed skin. Blood burbled up, and he ripped a chunk from it's neck. The beast stumbled and tripped, sending Ratstar flying. He landed neatly, spinning and racing forward. He ripped into its exposed belly, safe from its strong, blunt digging claws.

message 33: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments Ratstar winced, his leg caught painfully on its hind claw, which whipped away powerfully. The tom thudded into the hard ground, his body twisted into the long grass. He yowled, blood trickled from a thick gash in his flank, matting his fur. Ratstar ripped himself free, facing the badger fearlessly. He grinned deviously, licking badger blood from his jowls. His heart thudded in his chest, the huge black and white beast rolled to it's feet, turning to swipe at Duskstrike, snarling. "Watch out!" Ratstar shouted hoarsely, bounding forward to throw himself on the badger. He could feel it weaken, likely from blood loss. Ratstar himself was battered and tired, but adrenaline pumped through him.

He laughed boldly, pin-prick claws digging into the beast's pelt. The lithe tom tore open its skin, scraping into its flesh. Hot sticky blood gushed between his toes and he ripped into the badger. Ratstar braced himself, feeling it shake violently. He held on tightly, clamping his jaws into its fur, hissing.

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments The badger fell forward, screeching angrily. It trembled, its breathing labored and ragged. It was sure to die soon. Ratstar crawled forward, his claws raking over its eyes, catching on its eyelids and tearing them away. He bit it behind the ear, smiling when copper fluid spilled into his mouth. In seconds it stopped struggling, twitching in its death throes. "Duskstrike-" He said hoarely, clearing his throat and trying again. "Duskstrike. It's dead." Ratstar said, his voice stronger now. "We have to get back to camp so you can tend to your wounds." He hopped over to sniff Duskstrike, worry clamping him tightly.

Little claw-like daggers of fear squeezed his heart. His clanmates wounds were severe, from what he could see. Deep gashes upon his sides, blood pooling from those wounds. He let out a choked hiss, jerking forward. "Duskstrike!" He mewed, nudging his flank gently. "Get up."

Shadowpaw and Stormpaw were sitting in camp when Shadowpaw detected the scent of blood in the air. She stood, immediately alarmed as she glanced around.

She locked eyes with Stormpaw as he crouched down in anticipation of whatever was coming.

Shadowpaw crept towards the entrance to camp, scenting the air to try to find out more. But the scent of blood was too overpowering to her untrained nose. So she crouched by the entrance, prepared to attack whoever it was if needed

message 36: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments Ratstar left his prey and the badger behind, crouching slightly so Duskstrike could place weight on him. He placed his paws carefully, ensuring he wouldn't trip on creepers or thorny vines. "We're almost there, stay strong Duskstrike." His voice trembled, and he cursed himself inwardly. He might die! You mouse-brain! Not everyone has 9 lives like you do, such an idiot for going after a badger as big as that one! The cynic whispered in his mind, overwhelming him with guilt.

message 37: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments Ratstar cuffed him gently over the ears. "Nonsense! You'll go straight to [med cat's name here] and get your wounds checked." His tone was light and humorous, but his eyes were steely and serious. "By the looks of it, Starclan might have you by sun-down!" They approached the entrance, and Ratstar shifted to let Duskstrike in first, before following after. The sleek tom's tail tip twitched nervously, though he kept his own face plain and unworried. "You know, you haven't got more than this life, don't take it for granted, as I might."

message 38: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments lol there's no med cat-))

"I'll, so help me Starclan if you die I'm bringing you back and killing you again." Ratstar turned and trotted away, calling for Stormpaw or [med-cat name]. His voice rose with panic and impatience. "Someone please! A clanmate is hurt!" And it's all your fault. You got him into that situation, and now you've gone and let him die. Where's your mind gone Ratstar? Too arrogant because of your job? You don't deserve to be leader! He fought back the urge to tell himself to shut up, and kept yowling instead.

Stormpaw hurried to the medicine den where his clanmates we're calling for him. He took one look at Duskstrike and disappeared into the back of the den where the herbs were kept.
He came back out holding a bunch of different herbs, "What happened to you guys?" he asked

message 41: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Stormpaw looked from Ratstar, who had some minor wounds, and Duskstrike, who looked as if he may pass out.
"I'm going to treat you first Duskstrike" he meowed, doing his best to leave the warrior no room for arguements. He began chewing some of the leaves up into a poultice and then took it on his paw to spread it on Duskstrike s wounds.
"Hold still, this may sting a bit" he told him

message 42: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Stormpaw nudged some poppy seeds towards the warrior as well, indicating for him to eat them

message 43: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Stormpaw finished treating his wounds and spread cobwebs around them to help them heal before turning to his leader, "I think Duskstrike will be ok after some recovery time" he meowed as he scanned Ratstar, "Where are your injuries?" he asked

message 44: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments "Thank you for helping us Stormpaw. It was my fault he's so gravely injured." Ratstar sighed softly and met the apprentice's eyes, his own sad and worried. "It's nothing bad, I twisted my back leg and I have a few gashes and missing fur clumps." He crouched, bending his head and breathing slowly. "We managed to kill the badger, so we don't need to worry about it coming back. Later today I'll check the den in case there are any others or cubs."

Ratstar closed his eyes, fighting the urge to cry and he bit his tongue. Fur-brain! He might not be able to hunt after this! You're a terrible leader.

message 45: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Stormpaw set about, treating Ratstars wounds. He noticed he seemed dejected. "Duskstrike will be fine Ratstar, he just needs some rest and he will be back to training Shadowpaw in no time"

message 46: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments Ratstar nodded faintly. "I- I know. It's just my fault he got so hurt. I-I can't help but think I'm just a reckless leader. He-He could have been killed because of me." He knew the apprentice was somecat he could talk to, as he was all alone tending to wounded warriors and was probably a little wiser than the others. "I went after that badger without thinking. I didn't have the clan in mind, I just saw it and wanted to hunt it. I've always hunted badgers, and this one was nothing but prey to me."

message 47: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
Stormpaw had finished wrapping his wounds and sat in front of him. "You're not reckless. Duskstrike knew exactly what he was doing when he followed you into battle" he started. "If you hadn't killed the badger who knows what kind of damage it may have done, how many other cats it may have injured."

Stormpaw reached out and touched his nose to Ratstar's head in a comforting gesture. "Even if it hadn't come here the other clans have kits that could have been injured or killed" Stormpaw glanced at Duskstrike, "And while killing it may not have been the path every leader would take," Stormpaw admitted, before continuing with certainty in his eyes, "There's not a single warrior in this clan who would let you lead them straight into danger. Duskstrike believed in the cause and got some injuries. But he WILL recover"

message 48: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments Later in our roleplay, do I have permission to grant Stormpaw his medicine cat name? There is no medicine cat, so I believe Ratstar would have to do that. ))

Ratstar blinked in surprise, the apprentice was young, but spoke as if he were a senior warrior or even a true medicine cat. He was at a loss for words. Then he nodded with admiration. "You're right, aren't you. For an apprentice, you have wisdom of someone twice your age." He winced, his injuries throbbing, but he pushed it away. "Thank you, Stormpaw. You're very kind." Ratstar meowed, pushing himself to his feet. "I should probably go gather the prey we caught."

message 49: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 328 comments Mod
((Yeah, as long as we don't have a medicine cat Ratstar will have to do it))

Stormpaw nodded, looking to the sky, "It is almost time for the gathering as well. So don't take too long" he reminded him

message 50: by Crazy Boye (new)

Crazy Boye (gaybiatch) | 18 comments "I won't." He purred, trotting silently out of the den, then further out into the moors. Ratstar yawned softly, following the scents to his kills. He gathered the smaller prey first, the rabbit and lark. Then after dropping it into the kill pile and racing back, he awkwardly lifted the hawk. It was large, almost as big as he was, and very heavy. Slowly but surely, Ratstar managed to drag the hawk all the way back to the camp and heaved it into the kill pile. Then, and only then, did he allow himself to eat.

He picked up a squirrel and a mouse, bringing the squirrel to Stormpaw and Duskstrike, while taking the mouse for himself. Ratstar ate quietly within his den, resting himself for the trip to the Gathering Place. He felt electric, his first gathering as leader. He felt like an apprentice again, when his mentor brought him to the gathering for the first time. He met the cats from other clans, which made him happier than ever. Ratstar relished in the memories for a few moments, before finishing his prey and stretching his limbs.
