I'll try to remember to remind you. If I don't remember, remind me to remind you.

We'd love to have you Phillip!
We'd love to have you Phillip!
I wanna join! Now that I've cleared my plate a little this week finishing almost 2 books I can just add more back on lolol
Yes Domino! That's how we do it, finish a couple then jump into a couple more! Glad to have you joining us!
Sounds intriguing I might check in, though seeing "Der Fischer" spelled wrong hurts my eyes a little.
Good morning, starting this one today. I couldn't sleep at around 4:30am so I went ahead and got started. I already love the writing style and can tell this is going to be great!
40 pages in, this is f#cking beautiful so far y'all. I know it's going to get intense (I can feel it coming) but I am being lulled by the narrator. Not bored, just soothed.
I think Langans writing is soothing. This book definitely does not go to soothing places but it nevertheless remains that way. This book is so beautiful.
@Kasia yay!
@Felina I can already tell I'm going to love this one, wonderful suggestion for a buddy read girl! Thank you!

Just started it and since I am in quarantine, I shouldn't have too much distracting me from it. So far it's interesting and written in a style I wasn't expecting.
I read this the first time while also in quarantine. Way back at the beginning of Covid when we were all hiding. I feel like it lent to the weight of it. However, I wasn’t sick so that probably makes a difference. 😂
Sally - I am a lot better than I was when I started and I now only have 2 days left :0) Plus, the reading time is making it less frustrating than it would have been. Especially with this read. Kasia- I am safe and sound. Although, the cabin fever is really setting in. My thoughts on those stuck in the 14 day quarantine, with the full blown COVID, back when this began, make me thankful for my situation and saddened that they went through that.
Felina- Wow, yes...you probably got a lot of reading done during your quarantine? Thankfully, you weren't sick during that time. I imagine the regular chores stacked up or were in place? However, reading time would be extended :0)
I am 20% into this title and it does have a darkness that starts to take nibbles at you. Kind of like a fish on a line...ha ha :0) So, happy to join this read. Thank you for picking this title. At what point do we talk about it without worrying about spoilers? is there a way to add a spoiler but not show it in here?
Aww Steven I bet, you're almost there! My step dad got Covid last month and had to spend 2 weeks locked up in a hotel room, my mom is a teacher and my step sister is young so he had to really stay away, he was so bored, I felt so bad for him. And he's not really a reader, so being a bookworm definitely helps :)
I'm on chapter 2, I'm assuming the audiobook chapters are the same as in paper/ebook. Love the narrator's voice (Narrated by Danny Campbell).
Ahh I see he also narrated Devil's Creek written by Todd Keisling, I read that few months ago, excellent story, really creepy. Wish I knew there was an audio for it.

Yay only 2 more days Steven!
There is a way to do spoilers, just tell us what page or percentage you're at in the book and then use a spoiler tag for whatever you want to say about it. We won't click on the spoiler tag until we're at the same place or further in the book. The instructions for spoilers are under the (some html is ok) tab above the comment box. Hope that helps!

Kasia- Yes! I am so close to my release date...wait "release" Everything is revolving around "fishing " So strange :0)I hope while your step dad was locked up, he was able to get decent room service? And your step sister had some type of video games or shows to binge while in lock down?
I have to share this joke and give credit where credit is due. I heard this joke from Matt Shaw and he tells it so well. Plus, it kind of fits our book choice.
What do you call a fish that wears a bow tie?
So-fish-ticated :0)

Ha! My wife laughed and my 11 year old seemed embarrassed that I'm her mom for a minute so I consider that success, lol!

Sally- Happy you enjoyed it and it was a hit. Shaw tells it so well. I think it's in the way he over emphasizes the annunciation in the last part of it. Felina- Sorry you didn't get the applause you deserved. Sometimes, it's about the delivery of the joke, which is difficult to express on here. However, your loss is your gain. Well, anyone that follows this thread's gain cause the consolation prize is a second joke, un"fish" related unfortunately.
Why can't you arrest a zombie?
Cause they can't be taken alive!
I say, get really excited, loud, and make like you're trying to attack your audience with the delivery:0)
Definitely a well crafted scene and scary! Kind of reminds me of some scenes in Stephen King's titles, the kind that creep me out cause they proves that there is no time of day that can't be made frightening.
I just finished this. Ending (view spoiler)Damn this book is good. This was my second time reading it and I picked up on so many other subtleties now that I’m not focused on unraveling the story. Definitely a favorite read.
@Felina I can definitely see myself reading this one again! I read the last chapter twice already to make sure I understood what went down.

In upstate New York, in the woods around Woodstock, Dutchman's Creek flows out of the Ashokan Reservoir. Steep-banked, fast-moving, it offers the promise of fine fishing, and of something more, a possibility too fantastic to be true. When Abe and Dan, two widowers who have found solace in each other's company and a shared passion for fishing, hear rumors of the Creek, and what might be found there, the remedy to both their losses, they dismiss it as just another fish story. Soon, though, the men find themselves drawn into a tale as deep and old as the Reservoir. It's a tale of dark pacts, of long-buried secrets, and of a mysterious figure known as Der Fisher: the Fisherman. It will bring Abe and Dan face to face with all that they have lost, and with the price they must pay to regain it.
