I'm reading Half-Price Homicide and before that I read Killer Cuts. I'm also listening to The Ghost and the Bogus Bestseller and before that I listened to The Ghost and the Haunted Mansion

Working on completing some challenges with the Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery series by Chelsea Thomas:

Apple Die completed last night.

Next is, book 1.5, A Knead to Kill .

Then on to Book 2, Cooking the Books .

I am reading a very good Historical Cozy Murder at the Mena House by Erica Ruth Neubauer. Set in 1926 Egypt. It won the 2021 Aggie award for best first novel. Love the characters and setting.

Totally enjoyed this one...just finished it yesterday, in fact!

I got the ARC of The Vanishing Type by Ellery Adams and decided to circle back and read books 1-4 since it was the fifth in the series. Wow, what a fantastic story. I gobbled all five books up in a week!

I finished this book and I like it how it is written. I intend to read the next books in the serie.

Have you read the Avery Aames' (Daryl Wood Gerber) Cheese Shop series? If so, how does it compare?

I completed Candy Apple Killer by Chelsea Thomas and found the writing gets so much better! I am finishing up Berried Alive tonight and will start Halloween in Paradise by Kathi Daley to finally complete the serial reading challenges of 2021!

I did read Avery/Darryl's Cheese Shop series back in the day. They both make you crave cheeses, and cheeses you've never heard of before. It's been a while since I read the earlier Cheese Shop series, so I can't remember details for sure, but that's about the only real comparison I can really think of. They're different states, very different characters. This one has the potential to be lots of fun going forward.

Next up this week was Panty Raid by Diane Vallere https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I just finished and it was very entertaining and hard to put down. I receive the book from the library. I did leave a review at both Goodreads as well as at our local library. I am so looking forward to another book from this author. This is a mystery not a Cozy Mystery and I also enjoyed her information about the dogs.

I read The Burning Pages
It's not my favorite of the series, too much Burns and not enough Tom and Elias. I want Delaney's job but I'm not THAT nosy!

I am enjoying a new to me author and series A Side of Murder by Amy Pershing. It is set in Massachusetts on Cape Cod. I always enjoy books set on Cape Cod seeing I a have been there many times. Good characters and mystery.

I need to read this one. We stayed at the Marriott Mena House in January, and we could see the pyramids from our balcony. I am still having a hard time believing I was in Egypt.

I am reading a historical Cozy With a Little Bit of Blood by DE Ireland. Set in 1913 England. It is an Eliza Doolittle mystery. What I am finding interesting is many of characters are buying motor cars for the first time and there is not regulations. So they drive like crazy with no experience, run things over and hit things. Makes you think what it must have been like when people first started to drive.

I LOVE the Eliza Doolittle mysteries.

I picked up Move Your Blooming Corpse to get me extra excited for seeing My Fair Lady in 2 weeks. I was so-so on the first mystery in the series but I'll keep an open mind about this one and try again.

I've never heard of this Eliza Doolittle mysteries. I'd got to check it out.

Currently reading Murder Under Cover, 4th in the Bibliophile series.

Reading Chili Con Carnage by Kylie Logan. The mystery is good but the MC is so annoying! Constant petty fights with her half-sister. Father is a rolling stone leaving disappointed women in his wake. The sisters are carrying their mother's baggage. I am one and done with this series.

I have started Strawberry Cream Murder by Susan Gillard.

I am reading Chocolate à la Murder by Kirsten Weiss It is book four of the Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum series. I enjoy the crazy museum and the characters. Lots of good chocolate talk in this one.

I am starting Chicken Culprit by Vikki Walton.

Re-perused The Burglar in Short Order by Lawrence Block. Started by wanting to see one thing in one short story and wound up, well... you know.

This is a collection of short stories and essays featuring and about Block's burglar character, Bernie Rhodenbarr. Bernie appears in a series of cozy mysteries (just one that stars a bookselling burglar). Makes me want to reread the series (again!). Alas, I don't have the time...

I've read several of the Bernie books, and while they made me laugh more than once, I didn't think they'd be tagged as cozies.

Yesterday I started and finished The Guest is a Goner by Carly Winter.

I'm reading Too Sweet To Die by T. Doyle.

I tag them as such because they're not hard boiled (like Block's Scudder series). Bookstore owner Bernie is an ordinary Joe (albeit a burglar) whose life is affected by finding dead bodies, which he is usually accused of killing. He and his gang (really only one sidekick, Carolyn) set about solving the crime, though his methods might be considered unconventional -- though, how many protagonists have we seen who search people's offices and homes??

The books are lighthearted, fun, and funny as well as having great mysteries.

Book #1 Burglars Can't Be Choosers though there is a short story before that.

I'd say they fit the broader definitions of cozies that include caper mysteries.

In the 1970's when I started reading them they were shelved with books like Gilman's Mrs. Pollifax books and the Lockridges' Mr. & Mrs. North books.

Sorry for the confusion, Nell. In the post directly above mine, Karen referenced the series, and I neglected to reply to her post, which would have quoted some of her content.

Stalking the library for that one too and am thrilled to learn there will be at least two more. If we keep reading, the publisher will order more and she'll keep writing as long as she can.
