aster isn't someone who's.. well, simple to describe. she's a lot of things, but innocent and honest aren't any of them. she's someone who will do whatever it takes to get where she needs to be and she's seen a lot of stuff, stuff that would crush anyone's innocent. she's incredibly manipulative and often lies. One of the things she firmly believes is that you can't get through life without lying. Without doing whatever it takes to survive. the academy was her second chance, her chance to excel, and that's exactly what she did. it was a bit difficult at first. learning to write, read, and everything else. but one thing she had always been great at was telling lies and putting on a role. she's someone who often immerses herself in her roles and sticks to them. she's a method actor. it didn't matter what the role was, if she wanted to make it, she needed to melt into that role, become it. how she acts at school is just another one of the roles.
aster is kind to others and is someone who is often socializing with others. for her, getting others to open up and trust her is just another mission, a way to survive, to make it through the day. even if she's told she's in no real danger there, she always looks for exits in whatever room she is in. she looks for ways to gather information, easy people to target, and what around her can be used to get out. perhaps she took to the training too well. it's never safe, always be aware of one's surroundings. despite constantly being on edge, she hides it well. she's someone who appears laid-back and playful, unconcerned about her surroundings. someone who's a bit dense, someone who's lazy. heck, she's someone who goes around teasing and flirting with others at times. she seems completely uncaring about what is expected of her and who's watching.
in reality, the girl is extremely vigilant. take her room for example. it looks normal, but there are weapons lying everywhere. taped to the inside of her guitar, taped to one of the boards that hold her bed up, under her pillow, behind the mirror, etc. She spends so much time in her room that she feels the need to hide weapons everywhere, to always have access to something. heck, her boots even have knives hidden in the soles. she's extremely intelligent and observant. she's someone who chooses her allies and enemies carefully. she's cold and knows what needs to be done, whether it means sacrificing others or risking everything. she believes that a moderate level of fear is important. to keep one vigilant, to be ready to act. however, acting on nothing but fear is dangerous.
she's someone who believes in doing anything to get the job done, anything to get out of there alive. because of this, she's also convinced herself that emotions are a weakness, something that makes you vulnerable. as a result, she's become someone who can't open up about their true feelings easily and doesn't enjoy showing their vulnerable side. however, lies should be simple. nothing complicated and something that holds at least some truth. that's what she believes. not for some reason like her feeling bad for them, for lying to them. but, because it's easier to stick to a story if part of it is true. so, while she's someone who's extremely fake, not all of it is. she lives her life surrounding herself in these lies though, so it's difficult to tell what is true and just how much of it. She's someone who knows how to control her expressions, her feelings, and even her posture.
there are times when even her mask cracks. she's cold by nature, ruthless. even if she acts all friendly or even vulnerable, she's someone who does everything she can to kill off her emotions, to bury them deep inside. honestly, she doesn't really know who she is anymore. who's to say that she's not that friendly person who likes helping others or any of those other roles? if every lie she tells includes some form of the truth, wouldn't it be possible? but which one is her? how much of that is true? when you wear a mask for so long, it gets hard to remember, especially when you change as you grow older. she doesn't want to find out, honestly. there are a few things she knows. she's a skilled liar, a murderer, a spy, a student, and someone who just wants to survive. all of the other stuff doesn't really matter. knowing more about herself, figuring herself out isn't going to help her. it's better actually, it makes it easier to immerse herself in a role.
she appears to be lazy, but she's someone who works hard in secret. even as someone who belongs in the oleander house, someone who fits the house quite well, she immersed herself in other things. it's important to have a wide range of skills after all. she's someone who's extremely skilled in combat. while she's not super strong, she's quick, flexible, and a quick thinker. she's also familiarized herself with many theories and even forced herself to learn more about technology. she needed to get closer to the others in other houses. whether it was a sense of camaraderie from having a good fight, impressing jasmine by being quick on her feet, or even impressing a fern with her knowledge on various things and helping them with little projects. she may not be naturally talented in these areas, but with enough hard work, she's got to the point she is. after all, oleander is someone who's good at socializing and someone who's capable of convincing others of anything. if not by familiarizing oneself with things that the others like or are good at, how else? people naturally let down their guards when they believe they have found someone similar to them after all. it's a human instinct to want to belong. humans are pack animals, socializers. it's no different from a kid picking up a hobby because everyone else seems interested in it, right? to belong, to not be excluded. sure, some might think of her as a snake because of this, but spies aren't meant to be truthful saints. while part of her finds the whole process disgusting. people act chummy with her, she doesn't show it. while it might seem tedious, these children are training to be skillful spies just as she is. they are all important connections to have. not to mention, even if it's difficult to learn all these things and familiarize herself with them, it's important for when she's in the field. what if her cover gets blown and she gets attacked? if she can't talk her way out of it, she needs to be able to fight back. combat. if she discovers that there is a bomb while on a mission or something of the sort and no one can make it? she needs to be able to dismantle it. intelligence. if she needs to sneak into an area she's not supposed to be to complete her mission? stealth. they are all skills she's learned while at the academy. while she might not be able to beat others in their houses who specialize in these things and are just naturally talented in those areas, she works hard to excel in anything she does.
she's definitely a tad unhinged deep down. someone who enjoys watching the pain of others, of the face of despair on their face when they realize everything has been taken from them. To watch anger twist their features, the face of defeat. while she enjoys watching this, she does keep it in moderation. perhaps that's why she messes with people so much. watching them shift uncomfortably or not know what to do. to watch them squirm in response to her taunts or even her flirting. it doesn't matter. more than anything, deep down, she just wants to see something amusing. something different than her, something with emotion. she can't stand stone-faced people. people who don't have any kind of reaction. she hates it.
she often appears to be rather sarcastic, and well, it's not really an act most of the time. she genuinely finds people annoying and sarcasm is one of the ways she could really deal with that. even if she does it in a jokingly way, perhaps it's a way of coping. rolling her eyes, responding with attitude, acting lazy, pretending to be playful and sociable. maybe part of her just wants to be normal, to act and be a normal teenager. maybe that's why that's the role she picked, why she works so hard to earn the approval of others and to be liked. she's convinced herself that it's because they'd be useful to her one day, because it was how she was trained, but honestly... she's just a kid. one who never had the chance to experience what it's really like to be a kid. and that's all she wants. she wants to be a kid but more than anything, she wants to survive. this school is what gave her that chance, and what she was taught is what will continue to keep her alive.
strengths: her ability to adapt, socialize, lie, and immerse herself in her role, her ability to calmly analyze a situation.
weaknesses: she can't trust others. this can become a huge issue as she feels as though she needs to do it herself and she becomes extremely controlling. she overworks herself and never allows herself to relax and is constantly on edge. while being aware of things is a good thing, the body and mind can only take so much. she's paranoid and incredibly insecure. she doesn't believe she's enough, that she needs to do better. the only thing that really comes easy to her is lying, hence why she feels the need to close the gap and learn as much as she can. use her lying to her advantage, to lower one's defenses. this might seem good, but it makes it hard to make trustworthy allies. she bottles things up and tries to bury her emotions, which isn't healthy or safe. she's someone who is incredibly stubborn. she refuses to lose. she cares about her life, but if it means losing her face and dignity, she'd rather spit in the face of death than give up and spill any information, even if she's tortured. even if she does make it out alive, how could she return and show her face after spilling the contents of the mission or anything like that? more than anything, she's someone who runs away from her feelings. she doesn't want to face them and doesn't really know how to deal with them. running away from one's feelings rather than dealing with them properly is not only unhealthy but stupid.

aster has medium, wavy hair that is just above her shoulders. it's purposely kept short, that way she can move around easily and it'd be harder to grab on. if straightened, it'd just barely reach her shoulders. however, her hair is naturally wavy so she doesn't really bother to do that. plus, curls look better. her hair is naturally not a normal color, it's color originally being a dirty blonde. however, that doesn't really matter. if she needs to dye it a different color for a mission or wear a wig, she will. she does seem to color it blue a lot though and seems to prefer that.
the girl has rather pale skin which is usually accompanied by light makeup. both her hair and her skin are pretty well taken care of due to the skin and hair care routines she does. after all, what if her job was to infiltrate some rich guy's mansion? she needed to be ready to take on missions like that. it was easy to make yourself look poor and dirty, clearing up bad acne and bad hair is not.
she has oval-shaped, light blue eyes which are usually outlined by eyeliner and mascara. she stands at around 5'5" and weighs around 112 lbs. physically, she's not very strong and isn't exactly bulky. if anything, she's slightly underweight. however, she is not out of shape in the slightest as she's constantly exercising. there will be missions where she needs to constantly be on the move after all. the quicker she can execute her mission and the more accurate, the better. she's not particularly weak though, having pretty average strength. she has a few scars, including one on her shoulder that looks a lot like a gunshot wound.
strengths: she has strong legs, has high endurance, stamina, and is rather flexible and quick on her feet. she's trained to rely more on those traits to make up for what she lacks.
weaknesses: she's lacking in strength and has trouble gaining weight. her skin is pale so it's easy to burn.

she didn't really have the best family. honestly, the lot were all extremely twisted and awful people. her mother was a cold person who didn't care about any of her children. ignored them constantly, no matter how much they attempted to please her. the only time she really ever showed any kind of emotion was when she was agitated. her father was no better. he had no intention on loving his children, rather, he used them as scapegoats, alibis, or experiments. the first child was sent to prison, framed for the massacre. the second and third child was sold to settle debt. the fourth child was given to someone to gain their favor, (view spoiler). she and the fifth child were used as test subjects for products, struggling with addiction. being used to make deals, being used to commit all kinds of crimes. theft, assault, murder. the fifth child (view spoiler) she wanted nothing more for those horrible excuses for parents to just... perish. and well, that's exactly what happened. naturally, in that line of business, his father stirred up a lot of enemies. when she was just nine, the house was shot up. her father and mother died in the crossfire. she barely survived, though, she too got shot. she ended up in the hospital. but with no one to support her, she couldn't really pay any of the bills. that's when the man who ordered the kill of her family ended up showing up and paying everything off and 'taking her in' as her supposed uncle. she definitely wasn't related to him, but it wasn't hard to forge some papers.
she worked alongside him for three years. three years of a hellish life. she didn't have to be a test subject anymore for any products and he helped her get through the addiction so she'd be of better use to him. he raised her for those three years to be someone who could be of good use to him. while she didn't do too much, he taught her to lie, to shoot a gun. she was to become someone who can handle things for him. someone he needed. what better chance than to gain the loyalty of a child at it's lowest and raise it? unfortunately, aster wasn't as grateful as he thought. while with this organization, doing what she could to survive and nothing but, she met a spy who graduated from the academy that happened to be undercover. she happened to find out purely by coincidence, but she didn't tell anyone. she kept it secret and lied about it for months. then, one day, the boss finally found out. he even found out that she was helping the spy gather information as one of his closest assets in training. he had approached her with it and even tried to silently dispose of her. to make it seem like a suicide. he tried to strangle her with a rope. she was a small eleven-year-old with not much strength, so how could she fight against a grown man? she injected him with one of his own products and a lot of them during the fight. he overdosed and she barely made it out alive. thanks to her help in gathering the information, that spy was able to bring down that organization. she was then recommended to the academy through the spy. she didn't really have many options at the time. even if they were all things she was forced to do, she was technically a criminal, an orphan. someone with nowhere to go and no place to belong in that world. she knew too much as well. she was a risk. if she wanted to survive, she needed to get into that school and attend. she spent what months she had left before she was old enough to learn to read and write. she was then recruited to be a student there through the recommendation.
at first, it was hard to catch up. she was far behind the other students. she was small and underdeveloped, so she wasn't as strong as the other kids. she had only just started to learn to read and write, so she wasn't as smart as them. she wasn't really great with being stealthy or anything either as she was never taught anything like that. the only thing she knew how to do was lie, to get through situations. she knew how to survive and that was it. That's how she ended up in Oleander. While she's skilled now, she was barely anything at first. she knew nothing and was far behind even those in her own house. However, if there was one thing aster knew how to do, it was to survive. From the moment she was born, that was all she ever did; struggle to survive. And survive was what she'd do. In order to survive, she needed to learn everything she could from her surroundings, just like before. That's exactly what she did. However, she was tired of just surviving. she wanted to excel for once, so she worked hard every day to get to that point. she eventually ended up the way she is now.
- the reason aster dislikes cold and unresponsive people is because of her mother. even if that's how she is, she hates feeling like she's being ignored. ignored as she was dying, ignored as she was struggling. that cold look she wore, never properly responding to anything. she hates it, though it might seem hypocritical. the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree after all.
- aster struggles with anxiety as well as ptsd. she's technically a recovering addict, even if she is doing well for herself now. it'd only take a little bit for her to relapse.
- perhaps it's because of everything that happened to her, but she hates the world. she has a natural distrust towards people and believes that everything comes for a price, that nothing is free, and therefore refuses to accept any goodwill towards her.

he isn't really that complicated of a person, really. Ivan is extremely socially awkward and gets nervous a lot. He seems to be a rather anxious person, but he's not completely socially inept and can pick up on signals. he has a lot of trouble holding conversations with others sometimes though and doesn't usually know how to talk to others when it comes to more serious issues. he is incredibly smart though, as you'd expect from a fern. he can go on for days about the things that interest him and possible ideas. he spends most of his time working on things rather than around people as a result. he's the type who'd get bullied. even if that is the case, he is very prideful. even if he gets bullied or anything of the sort, he'd never say anything about it nor would he give them the satisfaction of seeing him upset.
while he doesn't seem like the athletic type, one of the few things he does enjoy is running. it's fun for him and while he might be lanky, he's pretty fast. for him, running was always his escape. to run away from the situation at hand, from the world. if he ran far enough, perhaps he'd be able to escape it all.
ivan is someone who, believe it or not, is usually pretty calm. sure, he gets anxious and everything because of his anxiety, but other than that, he's able to suck it up even when he's angry and make proper decisions. he's definitely not the field type though. he's the dorky type that is usually on the sidelines, more familiar with theory than combat. he doesn't want to burden anyone, so the sidelines is where he stays.
ivan is someone who likes to smile a lot, and while he's awkward, is incredibly kind and usually gets along with others fine once he gets passed that awkward phase. he gets excited over the little things and is always happy to just be there. his emotions pretty much show on his face usually and he's a bit goofy.
despite his anxiousness, awkwardness, and lack of general confidence, he's actually quite the extrovert and is usually pretty friendly with others. it definitely comes off as awkward, but he isn't really the type to shy away and be quiet either. this has also led to a lot of failed attempts of trying to become friends with people, between his tenseness and bad jokes.

ivan is incredibly tall for his age, standing around 5'7". he's always been on the taller side since he was younger, so it's nothing new. however, he used to be teased a lot because of it. the male weighs around 123 lbs. he's a bit underweight, but it's fine for now. it's largely due to the fact that he would get absorbed in something and forget to eat. he has dark, green eyes that are really hard to extinguish unless you look at them up close.
he has distinguishing bushy eyebrows that actually seem to work for him. his hair is a short, dark brown curly mess at most times. the male has large ears and pale skin. another distinguishing detail about the male is that he has a small beauty mark in the middle of his cheek, as well as two on his neck on the same side, as well as one on the opposite side. they aren't very obvious and are usually hidden by his collar.
the male prefers more formal type clothing and usually wears collared shirts with ties. however, he also likes more comfortable clothing like sweaters and such. honestly, it just depends on how he's feeling. he's a very colorful person and really likes the colors black, blue, and pink. he likes cute things as well and might wear little decorations like hearts.
while he might not seem very athletic, he has long legs and he's pretty quick on his feet. though, because he's so tall, he's also clumsy and probably shouldn't be assigned to missions where he has to be on the field.

just like his personality, his background isn't exactly complicated. he grew up in a fairly large family with three older brothers, two older stepbrothers, and three older step-sisters. being in such a large family didn't mean that he had much support or had a loving family that spent time together though. his father and stepmother were always busy working to provide for him and his siblings were often doing their own things. no one really wanted to hang out with the youngest after all. thankfully, one of his older step-sisters would hang out with him when she could, despite being six years apart. they'd spend a lot of time together compared to the others and she was the first person he came out to. he eventually came out to the others, though, she was the only one out of the step-family that were really happy about it and accepted him. his three older brothers accepted it, but it was quite clear they were very awkward about it and weren't sure how to deal with it. they were at least trying their best. his father was very open to it though and even admitted to being bisexual himself and that they would be there for him as he figured himself out. it was when he came out that the family began to drift apart. there were a lot of arguments between his homophobic step-mother and his father. they eventually got a divorce and she took her children. the step-sister he had gotten along with was already of age though and decided to stay, in which she was officially adopted by his father. now he lives in a more accepting environment and is actually pretty happy with himself and who he is, though it took a while to accept himself.

he's definitely a peculiar one. he comes from a rather famous family of wisterias, who belong to an organization that supports CLOUD while providing cover to the public for the group. As one of the families that hugely support the organization and are actual members of it, he's pretty widely known by most up-and-coming cloud agents. As the prodigal son and heir to his family's business, he, like the others in his "friend" group is pretty widely known around the school. as such, his personality does match what you'd expect from someone in the spotlight. he appears arrogant and is quite prideful. everyone who knows how he is would describe him as just another spoiled rich kid. however, spoiled or not, he's extremely skilled in what he does. he grew up in a house of wisterias, those who wanted him to continue their legacy. naturally, his brilliance when it came to design and mechanics came as a surprise to everyone. he, who his parents so openly bragged about being the next wisteria to bring glory to their family, was actually a fern. since then, he's come known to be one of the more violent ferns, preferring to be on the field using his tech and such rather than just sitting behind a desk in the safety of a base or anything of the sort. as violent as the wisterias in his family, yet as smart as a fern. he may have been lacking in strength, but he's definitely made a name for himself and shaped the image he wanted, something he takes great pride in. the male's ego is rather large it seems, even seeing threats or insults as something to feed his ego.
despite his supposedly violent nature, the male is actually quite tactful. he's not the type to jump into something without properly thinking it through. he's not necessarily a coward and will definitely take risks if needed, but he doesn't believe in plain brute force either. despite how cruel rumors make the male out to be, he's actually quite calm and chill. heck, classy even. as someone who grew up more privileged than others, he believes that one must not act tactless and that everything should be done with a certain level of 'class'. though, for him, class is more so style than anything. as long as you got style, for him, it doesn't matter who you are.
he's actually pretty fun and goofy once you get to know him. he is still a kid after all. he mostly just wants to have fun and enjoy himself. this is why he's more or so become known as a troublemaker of the sort, as he's always causing some kind of trouble just to have a little bit of fun.
he also likes keeping strong, capable people by his side and seems to favor those who are more capable of protecting and helping themselves rather than damsels in distress. after all, while he loves feeding his ego, he doesn't exactly have a hero complex. not to mention, what's more, amazing than a woman who can protect and speak for themselves? they are far more amusing than those who are weak and expect the strong to do everything for them.
he's always looking for something new and amusing and while he may not have a hero complex or anything, he believes in chivalry. no, not the distorted image some people have that it's something about helping some damsel in distress or protecting the weak or something. his ideal version of chivalry is someone who has courage, honor, and courtesy. just like actual chivalry, but without the justice and helping the weak part. after all, he doesn't exactly believe in justice. chivalry is being able to show respect to others, regardless of status, opposition, or gender. after all, only foolish people underestimate those around them.
while he has ideas of chivalry and such, as his name suggests, he more or so is a poison to society. rather than helping others and such, he more or so is just looking for something to keep him entertained while also looking for those who can be of use to him. sure, hard work and everything get you places, but so does having an eye for people. surrounding yourself with useless people will only harm you in the end. the world isn't a great place you can just live in without a care in the world after all.

sam is more or so on the smaller side, standing around 5'2". despite being as short as he is, it doesn't seem to bother him too much. though, being treated as a child on the other hand does bother him a lot. while he doesn't seem too impressive or anything, he's actually pretty athletic. he makes a point of maintaining his figure. he has a lean figure and while he doesn't have a big frame, he does have some muscle. he weighs around 120 lbs, his body measurements being 41-30-36. ( chest, waist, hip ).
the male usually has neat, short brown hair. he doesn't bother to really style it much, but he does prefer that it doesn't get too crazy, so he passes a comb through it every once and a while. the male has tannish skin as he spends a lot of his time outside. while he doesn't smile too much in front of others, when he does smile, there is a visible dimple that he believes only adds to his charm.
at times, he has visible bags under his eyes due to getting absorbed in his research and tech. however, while he does get absorbed in things, he believes that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind and takes care of his body well. he eats properly and works out when he can.
the male prefers more comfortable clothes that are easy to move around in and seems to lean more toward darker colors. however, he's not the type to dislike formal clothing either and doesn't particularly mind them. though, he'd prefer a t-shirt over a suit and tie any day. sure, they look nice, but he's more effective if he's comfortable.

he grew up in a rather prestigious family. despite how amazing that might seem and how great he makes it seem, it's not all it cracks up to be. from a young age, a lot of expectations and eyes were on him. people expect him to be this great wisteria worthy of inheritance, not caring about what he enjoys. rather, if he did not match wisteria's criteria, they'd just make sure he did. he spent a long time following what his parents wanted. all of the training was exhausting though and he didn't particularly look favorably on his father's way of thinking. it was ignorant and dull. of course, there were severe repercussions for not doing as he was told hence why he followed it for so long. it was painful when he didn't, after all. it was around when he entered the school and was sorted into the fern house that he stopped caring as much about what his parents wanted. he would act out, he would do as he wished, and would neglect the training times. his parents didn't think too favorably of this and still don't. he still has to deal with the punishments to this day. however, with each passing 'punishment', he only gets worse and worse.
