Alice (erdbeerfruehling) | 150 comments Hello (:

Please add translators Claudia Dathe and Esther Kinsky for ISBN 9783518072875.
And the Autors name in German is written "Serhij", as you can see on the cover. So, as you can read on his english profile, at the end, shouldn't this author line than say "Serhij Zhadan, Serhiy Zhadan, Сергій Жадан"? I found a few books, where people haven't done it ....

Thanks!

Liralen | 8390 comments Added the translators and the name Serhij Zhadan, as is on the cover. Do you know what book this is a translation of? (Happy to add the Cyrillic as well, but the order of names depends on which name/spelling/alphabet the book was first published under.)

Arenda | 26468 comments Authors published in multiple languages should have the most common English version as primary author (= Serhiy Zhadan). When there is a different version of the author's name on the cover, that version should be listed as secondary author.

So Serhiy Zhadan, Serhij Zhadan for the German editions.
And Serhiy Zhadan, Сергій Жадан for the Ukranian editions.

Liralen | 8390 comments Thanks for clarifying, Arenda! So Сергій Жадан wouldn't be the primary author even if it's first published/most common that way?

Indeed.

Here is the relevant portion of the Librarian Manual: https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/..., scroll down to "Authors published in multiple languages"

(There might be confusion, as it says "similarly to those with pen names", but the second sentence explains how it should be done. The rule with pen names is first published as primary author. The rule with multiple languages is most common Roman (= English-language) version as primary author.)

Hi (: He made this book especially for the german market, so there are no versions in other languages. It's a mix of some of his other works.
