The question I would like to add for everyone is...What symbolism did you identify and how did that symbolism cause you to think about the real life world differently?
1. Who was your favorite character? My favorite character was Emma, by far.
Thomas was okay, but I thought his thought life was a bit too detailed. I got bored reading all that when I felt like I knew what he was going to end up choosing anyway.
2. Who was your least favorite character?
Dee (as in D for devil, anyone?) as I believe he was meant to be.
3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be?
I super did not understand why Thomas got a white mask, but all the other Igniters only had one color. I would have made Thomas's mask one color but given him the potential for full color power, just like the other Igniters. (I would wonder if I'm missing something in the symbolism except that Emma is ostensibly in closer harmony with White Light, and yet she only has a single color mask.)
4. What did you think of the ending?
I'm glad Henry came around eventually. I felt that his character could have had a stronger presence and that would have made the book more interesting.
5. What was your overall opinion?
With Fawkes, Nadine Brandes has beautifully used her art of writing to say things in an entertaining, non-preachy way that cause people to reconsider Christian ideas. If she continues on improving her craft, she could really do some damage for the kingdom. 4 solid stars.
1. Who was your favorite character? Thomas! Thomas all the way! I did become annoyed at him, but for most of the story, he was super adorable! Guy comes in second (I know he's gruff, but him and Thomas... I just really love it!) and Emma in third!
2. Who was your least favorite character? Ugh. Pretty obvious! (view spoiler) Henry was mean and annoying but not even close to how bad the other dude was.
3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be? I hate that Thomas's efforts to save his father were so half-hearted! At least they seemed half-hearted to me! (view spoiler) That and the fact that Thomas didn't seem so bothered about (view spoiler) bothered me so much.
4. What did you think of the ending? (Spoiler tags, please!) (view spoiler)
5. What was your overall opinion? Great writing, and I loved the first half. The ending was a little disappointing, but overall, I still liked this one!

1. Who was your favorite character? Norwood! I feel like he does a lot but goes unnoticed. He keeps both Thomas (view spoiler) secrets, who knows how many more he keeps! That tells us he is trustworthy. I like to think of him as the guy who makes everyone feel like they're his best friend.2. Who was your least favorite character? In the book, Dee, although in real life, he must have been a nice guy, he had a library! I also didn't like Henry much.
3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be? The cover. That mask just gets me. 😂 I feel like it should look like the ones they wear! Also, I might change how White Light was talking to Thomas in the ally, he was so creepy it was like he couldn't be trusted. Not very consistent.
4. What did you think of the ending? I liked it!(view spoiler)
5. What was your overall opinion? Great story, great writing, great genre. Wasn't sure if I loved it or not, but came to the conclusion that I did and gave it five stars. Maybe would have liked it to be more historically accurate, but I'll let that pass for the sake of fantasy.

You know, I couldn't really find any good ones, although I looked. I'd be interested to see how you would answer this question.
There's of course, the symbolism of how we can feel between two sides and have a hard time seeking truth, but for Thomas it wasn't really two sides, it was a different side entirely.

Oh, Norwood! Dang, I forgot about the guy! I liked him as well!
XD I bet anyone with a library could charm any of us! I think John Dee did practice stuff with the occult, though, which is creepy!
Waaaah, I love the cover!

Oh goodness! I didn’t know that. The author said in the back that IRL he owned a library but his involvement with the plot was from her imagination, so that’s all I knew about him.
I love the cover too, it just doesn’t seem consistent with the book!

Oh, yes, that's true! I think she also said, though, that even though Dee's involvement was fictional, it was still fitting to his character, which I find interesting!
