Another book i love in 2022.
A delicious multigenerational story full of love, determination and secrets; well written with many twists, an engaging page turner.

I'm glad I read this one, which is the author's debut novel. Grabs you from start with powerful narrative. Similar to the "black cake" in the title, which refers to the Jamaican dessert (think fruit cake) - our family histories are a mixture of cultures and backgrounds that make up our own unique story. The writing is uneven in parts but good page turner. 4.5 stars rounded down.

Sandy B (sbenemer) | 162 comments This is the first book I plan to read in Feb (right now I’m
finishing Prince Harry’s Spare as well as a CIA thriller set in Ukraine written by a former agent, Landslide). Really looking forward to Black Cake based on all the reviews.
