Not sure if I like Castle. I do feel sorry for Juliette...she can't catch a break. Castle is coming down on her about not fitting in but Juliette is coming from an insane asylum where she was abandoned by her parents. She has never had a friend and has been considered a monster by everyone including majority of the people in the compound. Adam should have told her what was going on. I hate that she has lost the only contact that she ever had. I love Kenji!!!
“The man is moody as hell.”
“I am not moody—”
“Yeah, bro.” Kenji puts his utensils down. “You are moody. It’s always ‘Shut up, Kenji.’ ‘Go to sleep, Kenji.’ ‘No one wants to see you naked, Kenji.’ When I know for a fact that there are thousands of people who would love to see me naked—”

I feel like Castle isn't the best teacher. He just expects Juliette to know how to control herself even though she's only ever been told to not use her 'power.'
I also think that Juliette needs to stop feeling sorry for herself and learn to control of herself. Her constant whining is annoying.

He's definitely not helping. He should be trying to help her learn and control her power.

I agree Castle expected Juliette to know how to work her gift when she sees it as a curse. Juliette has been told by everyone that she is a monster because of it. She sees herself that way. Juliette has also experienced the negative effects of her power...the death of the child she was only trying to help and the hatred of her parents and everyone else she came in contact with. I think her statements come of as whiny but it comes from the fact that she sees her life as a black hole of despair...she has lost the only person's touch that she has had. What kind of life would that be?

Yes, Adam is only thinking about himself and his feelings.

I'm glad we read the novella because we got an inside look @ Warner. We learned why he really killed that solider. He is not all that bad. Don't get me wrong, I still think he has made some done terrible things but did Warner really have any other options. How could I have forgotten that this is when we find out that Warner and Adam are half brothers. I hate their father! He is evil!!!! For some reason he minds me of Darth Vader.

Darth Vader, lol. Love it!

Adam needs to look at things through Juliette's point of view. If he were literally killing her every time they touched...He would do the same thing she did.
Castle is a horrible leader. He sends Juliette, whose not completely stable herself, in to interrogate Warner and gets mad at her when she doesn't get the information he wants?
I get why Juliette gravitates towards Warner, but I still hate him. It seems to me more like a Stockholm syndrome where she only is with him because he can touch her...Without hurting him. I think if she weren't so starved for love and touch she wouldn't feel anything for him.

True.

I think He has unrealistic views, ideas and adjustives. I didn't like that, either.

I think it is some of that but also the fact that they really were raised by the same type of abusive people. She can relate to him but also wants Warner to be a better person. Is that realistic?

Finished. In this one we see the changes that Juliette goes through. Even though Juliette has the ability to kill she struggles with that dilemma. Let me say again how much I can't stand the Supreme Commander!!!!
Do you want to read the next novella or skip to the next book? When do you want to start? Monday?

The Commander is horrible.
I'm good with skipping the next novella unless you want to read it.

Sounds good. I'm having a hard time finding the time to sit down and read. I have been doing a lot of gardening. It is so much easier to listen to audio books.

I've seen some of your flower pictures. They're beautiful. I'm so jealous...I can't grow anything! I usually try to have a book I'm listening to and one I'm reading, but lately I've been finding myself listening more than reading.

Thank you. I'm so happy to be able to work in the garden again. The last two years were rough not being able to walk well and the pain was terrible. I had several procedures done last year. I'm blessed to be able to not only walk but work out there.

Thank you. Bright side of last year was I got the challenges done through 2023. Yay!

Description:The thrilling second installment in New York Times bestselling author Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series.
It should have taken Juliette a single touch to kill Warner. But his mysterious immunity to her deadly power has left her shaken, wondering why her ultimate defense mechanism failed against the person she most needs protection from.
She and Adam were able to escape Warner’s clutches and join up with a group of rebels, many of whom have powers of their own. Juliette will finally be able to actively fight against The Reestablishment and try to fix her broken world. And perhaps these new allies can help her shed light on the secret behind Adam’s—and Warner’s—immunity to her killer skin.
