Vance meets with Helen with Lady Berwick’s assistance and attempts to blackmail her into getting Rhys to contribute to a sham charitable organization in return for his silence. She maneuvers him into telling her the location of her sister. Was there ever any chance that Helen would go along with this scheme?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments Scum is too polite a description for Vance. Helen was never going to propose this scheme to Rhys. She had already decided that the marriage was not likely to take place and she wouldn't let Rhys get tangled up in Vance's blackmail.

Phrynne | 14 comments No Helen would never have done this. She was fully prepared to give up her prospects of marriage if necessary.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3485 comments I agree. Helen would never use her influence with Rhys to help Vance in any way. I did think that Helen would tell Rhys that she couldn't marry him because of Vance and his desire to blackmail. Then I expected both of them to develop a plan to make Vance pay for this request.

This man is lower than a slug. Never in a million years was Helen going to comply with his blackmail. Never even crossed my brain that she might.

Robin (robinmy) | 2454 comments There was no way Helen would go along with his scheme.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I agree with everyone. Helen would never have gone along with what he wanted her to do.
