Such a fun read! I loved it and the juxtaposition between the main character and her twin. This is a great book for curvier girls. And, while one of the main characters has a "handicap" I literally almost forgot about it most of the time because the author never shows him being unable to do something because of it.

Jill Henson | 15 comments Okay so I have gone back and forth between a 3.5 and 4 star rating on this one. As always, I listened to the book and it kept me in my feelings often. I laughed out loud many times and got angry on behalf of Moon more often than not. I feel that many readers will be able to relate to the characters of this book. The main character is on the plus side, there is a handicap boy though he goes through life doing everything anyway it's not a hindrance and could be encouraging for others with handicaps. There are sibling and parental issues, self confidence hangups, mean girls and pretty much everything kids have to deal with daily. I think the teens will be able to relate and for that reason I give it a 4 out of 5.
Oh, I will note that based on the cover I would've not picked up this book except for it was on the list. I do tend to judge books by their cover and this one just didn't appeal to me. Really glad it was on the list though.

I think teens can relate to trying to decide on a whole new chapter with their lives and how sometimes parents don't support the vision. I also think they can relate to not fitting "society standards" and choosing to blend into the background. I appreciated the representation throughout the novel. I was not expecting the deep conversations by first glance but I am glad they had some serious themes throughout the book.
