Can someone explain the teeth to me (why they were taken)? Was it just for fear/pain? It doesn't seem to me enough bone to prove someone dead, but the root would hold DNA...not sure why the captor would have needed it.

I may be wrong, but I thought it was to establish fear. To torture her. I didn't really think it through, just read through it, thinking "Man that is all kinds of fucked up."
