I am having surgery July 18th. I expect to be in the hospital for a week. Colostomy hernia repair surgery. I should have my tablet with me while i'm there, but still.
Just wanted to say you're starting up some fab threads Tyler 😊. I've been seeing them come up, but can't post now as it's so late here (near midnight). What everyone's weather like? We're having a heatwave, and it's forecast to reach 40° by Monday 😨. That's the highest it's ever been recorded in the UK!
The threads aren't going anywhere so join in when you can/want to :).It's 80 degrees (F) and cloudy here right now. Google tells me that's 26 or 27 degrees Celsius?
*uses google to figure out what 40 degrees C is* ... 104 F? O_O Wow that's hot! Stay safe and hydrated!
You bet Tyler! I'll be watching my Romanian shepherd dog too. He has a thick undercoat which is supposed to act as a cooling system, but still.
had surgery yesterday im doing good all things considered. Dont know exactly how long ill be in here but ill be released when my stomach is working. Shouldnt take more than a week hopefully. Might be quicker.
Brilliant Tyler - I'm so glad to hear everything went OK! Rest and heal well now 😊It's really hot here and at 42° has broken all records for the UK. Trains have stopped as the rails can't cope, and some airports are closed as the tarmac on the runways is melting! Not all hospitals have air conditioning, so they are giving the patients ice lollies.
We're having ice cream (no air conditioning in most homes either) but I hope it's a bit cooler with you!
I'm home. I'm exhausted and in a lot of pain with no pain medicine that does anything. The liquid oxy (i don't digest most solid pills) appears to have been stolen at the hospital by someone working there, from the looks of it. They told me they didn't know what the hold up was so when transport came to stop at the pharmacy and pick up the 2 days worth i was supposed to go home with. The person said they didn't have any and that shoprite had already been called. Shoprite was not called. Back n forth back n forth, finally got some answers, when i was already home and i live 2 HOURS away from the hospital, and shoprite has finally been called to transfer it there BUT they don't have it, because my dumb stomach can't digest pills so it'll be tomorrow if i'm lucky but a couple days if i'm not before they'll have it. At least i'm home now but i was in a lot less pain in the hospital since iwas getting pain medicine there. Ugh.
I also have a million things to catch up on. Email ... etc.
Oh Tyler - that sounds dire. I wish I could help ...How about soluble paracetamol to take the edge off? I know it's nowhere near as strong as oxycodone, but it's better than nothing especially if you keep it up. It's all I had in hospital after my broken femur, because I too have a problem with tablets. They injected paracetamol to start with, as that's stronger, but then I went on to this.
Here you can get it without prescription, though only in silly small quantities. So it might be a question of a neighbour or friend going round different shops to get a bit from each! On the other hand you might be sorted in a couple of days anyway.
And definitely forget all the "stuff" like emails! They, and we, can wait. *Hugs*
My mom just got me liquid acetaminophen and children's motrin this morning. Just took it. I used to think I was immune to pain medicine but here's hoping i'm not and that i'm just immune to digesting solid pills. I was born with imperforate anus and a bunch of related stomach problems. It makes perfect sense that it doesn't want to digest solid pills.I've seen some pop out fully formed but it looks like there's a lot more not digesting than I thought. The oxy pill? Did nothing. I mentioned some pills pop out fully formed and they switch it to liquid, oh wait, now it works. So here's hoping the liquid stuff my mom got helps.
Thank you. I'm just going to go at my own pace, it'll get done eventually.
Tyler, that's a relief that someone's on the case. YAY for your mom! And keep it up, because a doctor told me that painkillers have a cumulative effect. So the longer you take it, the better it works :)
hi all! sorry you've been having stuff going on, pain is the worst. I don't know about you all, but in my state (FL, which is also VERY HOT) because of the pill mill pain medicine plague that went on it's next to impossible to get pain relief. Every doctor is afraid of getting in trouble so will only give you ibuprofen or codeine if you're "lucky". I have a very high pain medicine tolerance, so I need more than most people, but if I tell the doctor that I'm "drug seeking". So I feel your pain, in that department!
I'm sorry!Well I did finally get the stuff, thankfully my pharmacy (that I recently switched to- Shoprite) now does everything they can to make it as cheap as possible so it wasn't much at all but my insurance ... would cover the solid pills... that I can't digest ... but not the liquid... which I can. -_- I have no say in what my stomach can and can not digest.
side note, I'll take this time to recommend my about favorite series to you, since you'll be laid up for a bit. it's called The Stone Dance of the Chameleon series (first one called the Masters) by Ricardo Pinto. it's been remade into a 7 book second edition (was a three book deal, all very long but great) and I haven't read the new edition yet, but as for the first edition the first book was my least favorite, tho all amazing. that said, if you can read and enjoy the first bit, it just gets better and better! Imagine if Tolkien and George R Martin collaborated on a book and you'll get an idea of it! Think, epic fantasy. And I'd argue the world Pinto created was better than LOR by a mile. not sure if it's your thing, (I usually don't read much fantasy, I discovered him more than a decade ago at a garage sale!) but give it a try if you'd like. And feel better... ^_^
Hope you get some relief soon Tyler so you can rest and get better. You're in my thoughts. Good vibes only <3
I never did update. I couldn't even finish recovering from surgery before I got another hernia :( There's been other issues to. I'm a mess, it's one thing after another. But i'm alright now, all things considered. Just, ya know, another hernia ...
At any rate i've been trying to read some manga this month in between nonfiction books for nonfiction november. Next month I plan to participate in queer lit readaton by "Kathy Trithardt" on youtube and a christmas evil readathon by "Slime and Slashers - Books, Movies, & Nostalgia" on youtube.
